Forums - Gaming - Forza 5 vs Gran Turismo 6: What will Score higher this year?

Forza 5 will be on a new console whereas GT6 is releasing on a 7 year old console and I think the engine is the same as GT5...and GT6 looks way to identical to GT5 which is why I think GT6 will be pammed by critics. And personally...I loved GT5 and played a shit ton of it but GT6 looks exactly the same so I think I'll be skipping out on GT6 this time around.

Forza will win for a couple of reasons.

Next gen bonus.

Arcadey racing is generally more fun than Sim racing.

Oh stop it you lol.

You know its true. A more arcade style is simply more accessible and thus, more fun. Its forgiving and easy to get into.

Ive always seen Forza as middle ground between Arcade and Sim. It hits it perfectly.

Polyphony Digital can/should take pointers. Making GT more accessible to the mass market would make the games even more popular.

Most sequals are that way but a lot of the time they score less. I'm not saying that GT6 will score less than GT5, I'm just pointing that out.

Look to GT6 like Uncharted > Uncharted 2 and not Uncharted 2 > Uncharted 3.

GT5 did a lot of things right (most of them) but there are some mistakes or maybe bad paths... so the most critics based the score in the weak points.

GT6 gest the weak points, fix them and change to be better... gets what was already amazing and makes even better... added content (tracks, cars, modes, features).

What I can list of the right job PD did with GT6:

  • Increased resolution (1440x1080) * Based in the demo
  • Changed the AA type in render and added post-processing AA (MLAA) * Based in demo... the GamesCom build have better AA
  • Fastest loadtimes (less than 10 seconds to load a track)
  • Better and fast Menu UI
  • Removed level up and experience points
  • No more car categories (Premium x Standard)
  • Added Event Creator (at least Online)
  • Added 7 new tracks and 19 new layouts
  • Added ~200 new cars
  • Added night racing and weather to old track (not all)
  • New Course Maker (Free Roam... you can even you the GPS app to map a real-life track limited to 10km x 10km)
  • New rebuild Online Mode with full customizations
  • New Community/Club/Race Manager
  • New on-going DLC (you can buy directly the Online Dealership)
  • New Livery Editor (full customizations)
  • New suspension, kinematictire, tire and aerodynamics physics
  • New Sound system/recorder
  • Vision Project (concept car, prototype, etc from manufactures)
  • Vita, Mobile, Pad, Tablet and PC Apps

I think I forget a lot of things... there are more.

The downside (what GT6 lost compared with GT5)...

  • TopGear Track (MS exclusive)

Forza. Reviewers will complain that it GT6 should have been on PS4. And GT7 will have them complaining that it should be 6. A better comparison would be Forza and DC since they are the same gen. But that would be easier for Forza to win I'd say.

GT3 was SUPERB, but since then GT has been on the decline.

Forza 3 is my fave sim racer this gen, and 4 aint no slouch either (though for me, not enough improvements)

Forza to continue the streak i reckon.

I'd say it's fairly realistic (for a videogame) if you want it to be. It's certainly much, much closer to a sim racer than it is to an arcade racer when you have all the assists off.

But yeah, it can be an arcade racer if you want it to be

I honestly doubt that. People play GT for the realism. If they make it more arcadey they'll lose consumers, not gain them.

Making it more accessible wouldnt take away whats currently there, it would add something extra.

Forza does this right.

I agree at near term but not at long term.

The racing simulation user base is bigger than the racing arcade user base... you will never see a arcade racer selling 10 million... Mario Kart is a exception because the combo Racing + Funny + Mario.

Make GT more accessible can give the actual interaction more sales but the next one will declive.

PD need to focus in what makes GT better... the differencital that every racer fan expect when buy a GT game... the feel and experience of drive a car that probably he will never drive in real life.

The main focus need to be the driving phaysics and everything related to it... the secondary focus is the user interface and community... what makes Forza good? The online community and that can add a lot to GT without change the main focus.

What do you mean? The hardcore GT fans would leave...
