DEAD RISING CREATOR NOT CONVINCED BY XBOX ONE EXCLUSIVE.
Keiji Inafune is a man who probably gets sick of being introduced as "Mega Man Creator", but that's his fault for creating the guy. He's currently working on Yaiba, a colourful offshoot of Ninja Gaiden, but one of his greatest gifts to the Xbox 360 was Dead Rising.

He was directly responsible for the first game, and oversaw the sequel, as development moved to a Blue Castle Games, a Canadian developer who've since been renamed Capcom Vancouver. Inafune left Capcom in 2010, after 23 years service, and Dead Rising 3 has been made without his input. So it was natural to ask him what he thought:
"I have seen the footage. It's not the direction that I would have taken it in. It's not the game I would have made. That's not to say it's wrong - I'm sure Capcom have their reasons, and they might well be right. But for me, as a creator, personally, it's a different direction."
That, to our ears, sounds like a diplomatic father who disapproves of his daughter's prom date, but knows better than to cause unnecessary drama. Yaiba and the first Dead Rising games blended the opposing feelings of oppressive doom and slapstick humour. Was it the gritty brown tone of the reveal that put him off?
"Humour is a part of my style, mixing humour with zombies is what I did with Dead Rising, and Yaiba. There hasn't been much information about Dead Rising 3 released. I'm sure there'll some humour in there."
We're definitely still stoked for Dead Rising 3, which has recently been confirmed as an Xbox One exclusive, that will never be released on PS4 or PC. And perhaps Inafune will be reassured by the screenshots of knights with light sabres.
What defines Dead Rising for you?
I am a bit sad he doesn't like it. I've always liked Keiji's vision above everything else. He might be a bit arrogant, but he knows how things should be done.
