100% this.
360 launch lineup was great, 3 years later and there is nothing else that is really interesting coming out

Can't say I am, and deciding which console to get based solely on launch line-ups seems pretty short sighted to me. Whatever tickles your taint, though.
if you like franchises on the x1 get it, if you like franchises on the ps4 get it. If you are interested in kinect get the x1. If you want free games get the ps4. Too many factors to consider, even though the consoles are close at the end it has to do with personal taste.

PlayStation is about the long-haul, you are not just investing in it for its first few years, but its entire life-cycle which will be filled with impressive games. plus, we get inFAMOUS which looks like the only true next-gen game i've saw (those particle effects...) |
So it makes sense to buy it in a few years (PS4)
Infamous is kinda unecessary with Saints Row 4 and GTA5 covering our sandbox needs.
Go where your friends play. I wouldn't solely buy a console for the launch lineup, these consoles are built to last for a long time. I would at least partially base my console decision off of the last generation of consoles. Which console's games did you prefer?
Also keep in mind the near future games as well though. Both Xbox One and PS4 have announced the quantity of games and new IP coming and from that we know that there are more games coming exclusively to the PS4 and more new IP within the first year.
Both consoles look really good, so I think you'd be a happy customer either way.
Good for you OP to stand up to a internet community that will largely disagree with you.
Buy what you deem is fitting to your tastes, and don't succumb to internet bullying.

You could use that line for pretty much anything. On any console. |
Sure, but in this particular case Saints Row 4 is wackier and GTA5 is the best sandbox game ever. So I don't see it as a talking point from a Xbox perspective.
(awaiting a snappy comeback where you list a multiplat negating the use of a Xbox exclusive)
Hey Go For It! you make some really solid points and if the X1 interest you more (and your welling play an extra 100$) than you cant go wrong. personally i have a WiiU and wont be getting another next gen console for at least a year, that way i can focus on getting games for the current systems i have. I wasnt ever really a halo guy (even since i had both the Xbox and Xbox360) so ill be getting the PS4, the 400$ price tag helps lol. but anyways, im sure you wont regret buying the X, especially if the games interests you more

Anyone else in this boat? Now that MS has changed a lot of their policies since E3, I just have come to the realization that I like their launch library a lot more than Sony's. I was never a big fan of the Killzone series. Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3, and even Rhyse seem more interesting to me, and Project: Spark looks really incredible: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeJ8FufwexQ Being able to motion capture movements through Kinect 2 actually seems pretty awesome to me. And then I guess for the dudebros you have Titanfall coming post launch. |
Do what feels best, I believe both MS and Sony are in it for the long run this time aswell, albeit with different angels towards gaming and media. I do agree that the X1:s launch lineup looks simply incredible, and I do not agree with everyone in here that their support dies off ater a few years. If that were to happen though, why not get a PS4 then at a reduced price? That way you get the best of both worlds :).
If you want to change then go for it, after all, you can buy the ps4 down the road(maybe 3-4 years later) if you don't feel satisfied with the console. Not every early adopters owner keep playing in the same console for the rest of the gen, happen to me this gen, started with 360 until 2009, after that its have been all ps4.
