no because microsoft will do the same now. the difference is that microsoft only starts with it now and sony started with it half a year ago so they already have a lot of support and indie games to show. in some months both can throw indie games on everyone at conferences^^
and yes @poll i like indie games a lot but prefer them on pc.
Rime and ResoGun just shows how great can be the indie games.

Rime is NOT an indie.

That's the benefit of being there first with XBLA, but now such a reversal is not implausible. It's a lot easier for Sony to change that dynamic with the generational change over than it was for them to change it mid-generation. And with Sony betting so heavily on indies it stands to reason that people who like indie games would gravitate to their platforms. |
We'll find out when we see the PSN UI and download figures. Until then, its mostly speculation as to how it'll all turn out. But even then, WiiU was supposed to do much better, and in turn, the figures are simply deploreable.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Well, I mean... Wii U is certainly more developer friendly in terms of policy. At least now Nintendo isn't going to just pocket all your money until you cross some arbitrary sales threshold. But I wouldn't have expected it to do well in digital sales. WiiWare numbers were already dire, and now the Wii U is getting outsold by the Vita of all things.

Not in Japan. If you're a japanese developer, you can go put your game on Playstation. They don't want trash on their system.

Encouraging people to put their games on Playstation instead of the Wii U sounds pretty developer friendly to me.
Well, the problem with your theory is Microsoft give out scholarships and rewards for up and coming developers. They are also happy to educate someone for free. They have been doing this for years.
Plus, as someone else pointed out, they sell only 1/3 as well on Sony. It would be nice to see Sony work to help bring new games, so we would all benefit from more talent working in the field.
So, it seems you are referring to the wrong console. But I don't think Indie's are what sells systems anyway.
Indies are like the candy at the Cinema (Console). Yea, it's fun and enjoyable, but you are really going there the feature film (Big exclusives.)

I always thought Tequila Works is an indie dev like ThatGameCompany
.
