★Almost Complete Nintendomination Appears in Major Japanese Retailer’s Weekly Sales Charts★

Every week the major Japanese retailer Tsutaya publishes its sales charts, that are normally considered a good indication on what the more precise Media Create sales charts will look like on Wednesday, considering that Tsutaya has a large number of stores spread across the whole country.

This week’s sales charts (from August the 12th to August the 18th) will definitely spark a few smiles atop Nintendo’s ivory tower (quite literally, since It’s a pretty anonymous white building) in Kyoto.

We get eight 3DS games in the top ten, plus Pikmin 3 that seemed to have had a small resurgence in sales and climbed up to 8th place from the 12th of the previous week. The only game on a non-Nintendo console that holds fast in the top 10 is Dragon’s Crown for PS3, while the PS Vita version slips in 11th place. Still, a strong showing for Vanillaware’s masterpiece in its fourth week of sales.

It’s interesting to notice that there was no major new release this week. As usual 3DS games tend to show a lot of staying power in Japan.

Glad to see Dragon's Crown selling well, it's a lot of fun.

3DS boost is nice; I didn't really expect anything like this for Obon. Glad Pikmin 3 got a boost as well.

Cant wait to see Weds charts! This is weird wonder how much boost? are we talking like 5k per title up? or like 10k-15k? Didnt know Obon week was big intill now

Hard to say. Tsutaya might not really represent the whole industry here. Something like Ace Attorney or Dragon's Crown may have gotten a boost at that store, but not at more general retailers.

It's hard to be certain that games still in their first few weeks went up and not down. The Disney game probably dropped since it's in its second week; Ace Attorney could reasonably have dropped by 11k or more in its third week, which would put Mario & Luigi in second place if it stayed even.

The only thing I'm sure of is that Youkai Watch definitely got a boost, which means some other games probably did, as well. Especially leggy games like Tomodachi Collection.

My guess for Youkai would be a 5-10k boost, enough to put it above Tomodachi.

WTF, nobody chose the 3rd option? wats wrong with you people >:(

Vita version of DC is #11! Anywayz remember wen M+L first week came up! people thought it flopped! Great legs indeed, it passed 200k week ending August 11th so with this week if it got a boost or stay the same as last week will put it at 225k-240k! add Europe and its 325k+! I hope i win my bet, it has to do a mil by 2014!

I´m really glad that Yokai Watch seems to have almost Nintendoesque legs (after the less than earth shattering first week)
inbefore someone from the Sony brigade saying that the 3DS doesn´t shift software and everything should be on the Vita (You know who I am talking about!)

pfft those games would sell twice as much on Vita, all devs just seem to have lost their minds. the games would actually be good on Vita too ;)
