My friend's matte model is a lot quieter.

Not sure if it's the gloss model or if it has a problem.

It wasn't negative, he was taking the mick. The title said the Xbox One was DEAD silent, so he made a joke. Could hardly be considered negative, it's purely humour.

Yes I agree. There is much less buzz with the xbox one. xbox360 generates a fair amount on it's own.

Based on everything we've heard it seems like they've really learned a lot from the issues they had with the earlier 360 consoles.
