They could but it would be a silly business decision, especially for a division that has yet to recover the losses of the first Xbox. If sales are weak then they will probably just sell it for $349 without the Kinect.

Honestly, if they dropped the price to $399 at launch I wouldn't buy it at all.
With the all the "giving in" they are currently doing and the vast amount of backpedaling, I would expect the price to drop further. That or adding additional value to the package.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Let's say they did one more that would actually bring some real value to the gamers right away. If they dropped their price on the XBOX ONE on launch day to $399 would you change your mind if you hadn't planned to get one before? It would still come with Kinect 2.0(not even required to plug in any longer) and everything as seen in the "unboxing" video by Major Nelson. A poll on this is too easy, I am more interested to hear from people who really had decided to pass on the XBOX ONE after the reveal at E3 . After all the changes(180's) and this IMAGINARY price drop. What would still hold you back? |
I'm buying Day One it's the best system to me. That controller is going to be awesome

No, I'm not. And don't call me Actually.

PS+'s free games just about leverages me to get a PS4. Plus, (no pun intended) I haven't owned a Sony product since PS2.

You said that a lot of them weren't their customers.
Who is "them"?

Don't think it would make much difference in the grand scheme of things. PS3 launched a year later a 100$ + more than the 360, yet here it is all these years later having outsold the 360. A 100$ cheaper PlayStation and one that launches around the same time as the Xbox One has it in the bag imo.

A lot of them complaining about various things about the Xbox One. Not all of them, though. Not hardly.

Still, you are incorrect assuming they listen and react to anything people say on the Internet. They didn't react to what people had said, cause they don't care about it. They only reacted to the numbers of preorders they got, when they realised they were going to be obliterated even by the Wii U. And preorders come from customers.
Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/
My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

That may have been the final straw, but they were listening and reacting to what people were saying. Official channels were responding DIRECTLY to those things through Twitter and interviews. And we all know how preorder numbers aren't a reliable projection of how well recieved a product is and how well it will sell.
