Kirby's next game will be on what system!?

It's going on 2 years since Kirby's last mainline game, which was Return to Dreamland on the Wii. His absolute latest game was a 20 year anniversery collection in 2012, which was also on Wii. Basically, other than SSB4, he has yet to make an appearance on a Gen 8 console, and his last handheld aswell as mainline game were in 2011. I guess it hasn't really been that long, but it sure feels like ages considering the usual frequency of new Kirby games. They went from litterally being thrown at us to nothingness so suddenly. It's just so weird as you'd think we would have gotten one by now or atleast heard of one being developed. I've been dying for a new Kirby game, so this is just unacceptable! If we don't hear anything by the end of 2014, then I fear the worst...

Huh? Return to Dreamland was less than two years ago...

Oh, my mistake! In my defense there are too many Kirby games to keep track of!

Console Kirby has usually been pretty space out but usually pretty frequent of handhelds.

3DS-2014 & 2016

Wii U-2015

There are a lot of them, which is why I'm in no rush for another.  We had Mass Attack and Return in 2011, Epic Yarn in 2010.  I love Kirby, but it's time for a little break.

I hope we see another entry in 2014 for the 3DS which is where Kirby shines (on handhelds). It would be another 2+ million seller for 3DS and i'm sure Nintendo would really get into making some really fresh and able to take more advantage of the 3D.

Not saying you're wrong, but my theory/wishful thinking for why they haven't unveiled another Kirby game yet is because it's being made for Wii U. I remember Nintendo saying they were having trouble making games in HD, so that's probable cause for the delay. Not only that, but I think/hope that this will be the first full 3D Kirby game, and so development is a lot more complex than it was for previous Kirby games. I wanna say/believe those two reasons combined could cause quite the delay.

Not saying the other games are lesser, but only RTDL was a traditional new Kirby game. Also, if you want a break from Kirby, just don't buy any of his games while still playing other games for a while. I do that myself with Mario platformers, and it works great for keeping each game of his that I play feeling fresh and new!
