Me on the other hand I've been a Ps+ member for over a year now and once you have it there's no going back :) its the most ultimate service available to mankind.

Nah. Steam is better than both consoles online services, it's also free. Completely utterly free and will always be free.

But to answer your question: "Now try this very same scenario with xbox live "gold" and a xbox live "silver" Subscription can they play online Multi-player games together?"

Actually you can play Multi-player with a silver account.

Minecraft for instance if you are a silver member, you can get a gold member to invite you into a game and play together. :)

Converesly games like Final Fantasy (Aka. MMO's) don't require a Gold Membership usually.

I have a steam account but only use it to play dota 2 outside of that its alright I guess.

Joeorc, you seem kind of upset.

Sure, everyone on one Xbox One get's the equivalent of Xbox Gold if one person has that as their home system.  Then everyone else that uses that system has the equivalent of Xbox Gold.  Plus, when you travel, your Gold Comes with you when you visit friends.

Sort there are sort of two was Gold works:

1. For your Gamertag as you travel around.

2. For the Xbox One you designate as your home systems, and everyone that uses it there.

It's cool you can get some games outside of the paywall on the PS4, but I think most of things like COD, BF4, Bungie's new game, are probably going to be behind the paywall.

Again that is not the same "scenario"

"xbox live "gold" and a xbox live "silver" Subscription can they play online Multi-player games together?"

you skirted around the issue, can xboxlive "silver" play online multi-player gaming for free in any way shape or form?

Im talking about , if one house hold only has xboxlive "silver" no xboxlive gold for their house hold.

come on you know the Answer..lol

Huh I thought a lot of people had PS Plus. Those are some very low subscription numbers, I would've thought PS Plus had around 5-7 million subscribers at least.

What do you mean?  No subscription numbers were announced, were they?

Basic math based on the approximate revenue generated gives us a rough estimate of 2.8 million suscribers.

Personally, that seems spot on when it's an optional feature, marketed to a userbase that prides itself on free multiplayer.

That and the service is only a couple years old.

i dont see any real numbers. these are estimates. or should we take the words of analysts as truth now?

Its not the truth so much as the only numbers we have access to.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

It makes it all we got until something more concrete comes along. You can dismiss anything and everything that isn't a fact, but that just hinders things, and would make forums pointless :P

A gold member can invite a silver member to play Minecraft!  That is very cool.

I have been afraid of the game, as that I think I might want to spend too much time playing it, lol.

As far as steam always being free.  I'm not sure, they really changed this year.  I'll probably not have any updates on that for a few months.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

What, you don't like estimates?  Remember when Netflix calculated that they would only lose a tiny number of subscribers when they more than double the price in less than 9 months.  Well, sure, the stock did drop by something like 70% because they weren't quite accurate at the flood of users they would lose.  They then tried to split the company and made it worse.

I'm sure all the people who go online now on the PS3 will buy pay for mulit player on the PS4.  Just like I'm sure that the PS4 will clearly have the best graphics and framerate.  /s

Steam will remain free.
The difference between Steam and Xbox Live/Playstation network is that Steam is a service on an already established platform where there are other free competiting services, thus competition will keep it free or bleed users to the other competing services and thus in the end... Profit would indeed decrease over the long term.

Besides, Valve is a Privately held company, they don't have shareholders that will continiously try to push for ever increasing amounts of profits at the expense of consumers. (Like Sony making PSN cost money.)

Steam has however recently introduced support of subscription-based games, but the service itself still remains free.

I can honestly say that I have not noticed Xbox live being a better service that PSN. Paying to play online is still a joke to me.
