It actually makes sense. It looks like Sony is really starting to try hard to sell Vita to kids in the West. The Mickey Mouse game, Invizimals, now this. Just cut the price and they may be on to something this Christmas if they market this right. If it helps to sell more Vitas - I'm all for it. At this point every Vita sold matters.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Well, technically it's not made by Sony. It's probably funded by them though, but this is an indie game.
So, it's not entirely their fault, probably...

You need not bring logic into this.  I saw a guy a few days ago blame Sony because they didn't like the Vita Batman game, as though Sony were the ones who made it.

As far as I know, situations like this usually happen when a developer brings a game idea and possibly a demo to the publisher and asks for funding.  That's likely what happened here, rather than the "Sony set out to copy Nintendo" scenario some people are aiming for.

First the platformers, then Invizimals and now this, there's no doubt in my mind they're gunning for the younger market this Christmas. If they have the price drop (both console and memory cards) to go with it, they might just manage to sell a few consoles.

And for all the "Nintendogs rip offs"... believe it or not, Nintendogs wasn't the first pet simulator. The Petz 3D series in the 90s did about as much.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Holy shit my brain just run away from me after wtaching this vid. But i have a strange Feeling that sony will make a lot of Money with that game ( hust Nintendogs hust)

they could have made this way cooler, like having a open world map with dog gangs hanging out, police-swine and reefercats.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

So...do people actually know what they want? I don't think they do.

They do know what they want. They want to be able to carry on pretending the Vita has no games. This game looks very nice indeed.

Or maybe they want compelling original software that isn't available on other consoles, or a blatant rip off of whats available on other consoles or games that have cringeworth dog dialogue?

So that's why everyone rushed out to buy

Uncharted Golden Abyss
Gravity Rush
Wipeout 2048

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Yes, because pet sims were started by nintendo...

That won't really work, because Sony has nothing else for kids.  If you're a kid, are you going to buy the system with Playstation Vita Pets, Little Big Planet, PSASBR, and Ratchet and Clank, or are you going to buy the system with Nintendogs, Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Lego City Undercover, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion, Donkey Kong Country, Style Savvy, etc?  Sony is not going to beat Nintendo in the kids market anymore than the Wii U is going to become the favorite console among COD fans.  Sony's money would be better used for trying to attract older gamers who lean more towards action/shooting games.

Good games, but simply not enough to warrant purchasing a system.  I'm not saying that there isn't a single good original game on the Vita, but there is nowhere near enough to warrant a $280 purchase.
