What a dated franchise. It worries me to see Sony digging so deep in its archives to try and come up with worthwhile game to add to its PS3 library. Eitherway this holds more promise than Warhawk did, which was a mediocre half assed PS game and a fairly novel PS3 remake.

But there's no reason they shouldn't make it.

Just like all those Mario games and Halo right?  Seriously dude, Sony has been one of the best about making new IP's this generation (along with MS), so put down the haterade.

Is it a new IP if its a remake? Funny, I don't see any Twisted Metals or Halos in the top ten like I do Super Mario Galaxy. Don't ever compare a pauldry speed bump in Video Games History like Twisted Metal to Mario please, its just shameful your perspective of gaming is so narrow. I'm sorry my opinion on the matter wasn't better worded and incited the hatred of many Sony fans, but your defense is just plain ridiculous. Next time come up with at least better examples.

1: Stop making shooters. Please. You're not Valve or Free Radical.
2: Stop trying to force photo-realism down my throat until you can get out of the uncanny valley. Work on style and presentation instead of just pixels and bloom.
3: Try something weird and new, and hope we like it.

You'll cut costs way more than you cut revenue, and thus increase profit.

He has a narrow perspective? You're the one hating on a proven franchise for no real reason at all. Who knew that more games was a bad thing.

Look at it this way, it's been almost a whole generation since the last TM, so the advancements in technology should allow for quite a rebirth of the series.  Using the Mario comparisons that have been brought up in this thread, imagine jumpring straight from SM64 to SMG?  The difference would've been astounding.  Now imagine going from TM: Black to a TM for the ps3.

How am I hating on anything?

Twisted Metal died off, simple as that, it may have a future again, but its hiatus combined with Sony's need for killer IPs does raise some suspision. Again, your need to compare this to games like Halo or Mario is just insulting and pitiful it would come to such extremes for you to try and use such a comparison to justify your game.

I just wish people were excited for this for more than it being the same franchise with better graphics. SMG isn't better than M64 because of graphics. Its "unique" because it's different and innovative. We should hope that this new Twisted Metal offers something new or else it will see the same luke warm success as Ratchet and Clank PS3.

It's just an observation, and opinion really, if you don't agree, just say you don't agree, I'm fine with that. Just don't try and cruxify me like I've come to piss in your coffee.

The adding innovation to a sequel thing is a good point 4D, and holds water for SMG. Unfortunately you put Halo in there as well, which just shows that new graphics and minimal changes can be perfectly successful as well. All Halo3 had was a fan base and more hype and advertising than you can shake a stick at. Heck, the week of it's release I was just waiting for it to come out so that I could watch G4 without them talking about it every half hour.

also....piss in your coffee....never heard of that one.....gross

People are crucifying you because you keep trying to convince everyone you're right.

Twisted Metal died off, simple as that, it may have a future again,

TM never died off. There was an extremely popular version on the PSP that came out in 2004 or 2005 and recently has been ported to the PS2.

but its hiatus combined with Sony's need for killer IPs does raise some suspision.

Sony has come out with possibly more new IPs in its first year with the PS3 than old IPs. Resistance, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Motorstorm. Three of those are million sellers and Resistance 2 is getting some enormous hype. They also have new stuff coming out like Infamous, LittleBigPlanet and a couple of Team Ico games. Throw in their established IPs like Gran Turismo, God of War, and Metal Gear Solid (3rd Party, but exclusive), and I have a hard time believing Sony's getting "desperate."

Have you actually been reading other people's posts? Or are you too astounded with your own genius? Most likely a PS3 TM would have a robust online mode, something we haven't seen in the franchise yet. Most people have been saying they'd be satisfied if the new game had at least updated graphics/physics with a solid online mode. They never said that that's all they're looking for. There's a subtle difference there. It's not our job as fans to come up with ideas for the next Twisted Metal. All we can do is speculate on what will most likely be included. Better graphics and a robust online mode are highly likely. The fact that just those two things are enough to get fans excited means that the game has a lot of potential to be great as long as the real creative minds are more ambitious than fan speculation. And really, when has Jaffe disappointed the fans?

It's just an observation, and opinion really, if you don't agree, just say you don't agree, I'm fine with that. Just don't try and cruxify me like I've come to piss in your coffee.

I don't agree. Now can you stop your "holier than thou" act?

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

Exactly, good points.

But expect him to post a 10 paragraph shit explanation ignoring everything you just said.
