Forums - Sales - If consoles became legal in China

If people know anything about the moba scene in china which is huge you could say the chinese are heavily into e sports and multiplayer centric games. So you could say consoles, but it's really a pc market.

But that doesn't say much when consoles are banned there.

Korea =/= China.

WWII scars still exist between Japan and China. I could honestly see Microsoft getting the win because of this.

Korea has major beef with Japan at times, yet Nintendo's Handhelds continue to do well there.

I doubt any beef between the countries would give anyone the upper hand. Especially MS.

Maybe some new Chinese company.

Lol, i many different ways yes. They both embrace the pc bang gaming culture, and they both love competitive gaming.

I have been to China, even before they lifted the ban. Stores actually sell consoles there and the market is almost like South Korea, a PC market with Smartphone mobile gaming for the rest.

Very much so. I wouldn't rule out that possibility given the history you alluded to. The Chinese have very long memories.

21st century[edit source | edit]

In 2005 a new wave of boycotts were started in mainland China, concurrent with the anti-Japanese demonstrations in major Chinese cities at the time. However, this boycott was at best a fringe attempt, and was denounced by the mainstream population, citing that China was integrated into the world economy and a boycott of one of China's biggest trading partners would cause as much harm to China as it would to Japan. Most people were more concerned over their standards of living than redressing old grievances. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Relations gave a similar view: That "Sino-Japanese economic cooperation developed significantly over the past decade and brought real benefits to both the people of nations. We do not wish for economic issues to be politicised." As with the anti-Japanese demonstrations, these activists began organising boycotts using the internet and mobile phones.

It would seem China is capable of changing their antiquated views faster than you two are :D

No effect. They can already access bootleg consoles/games right now, and piracy is rampant so they won't want to pay the actual prices. Secondly, PC and mobile gaming are far more established.
