Even if it was announced as a limited print before it came out, which I obviously didn't know about, that still doesn't mean Nintendo can't change their minds and print more copies after hearing the outcry from their fans and after seeing the game selling online for $200, hell they could have even rereleased it as a player's choice edition.

Sure, Nintendo of America could have changed their minds. But Xenoblade's troublesome story was all over the internet for a long time, so NoA suddenly treating the game with respect was pretty much out of the question.

What do you mean?

First and foremost people should be mad at themselves for passing up on this game in the first place.

Came here to say this ! It was available through Gamestop and Nintendo´s website long enough but people said "eventually"...yeah, shit happens ! Anyone could have bought it for (50 bucks I assume) near releasedate and we wouldn´t have this problem....or better yet: Anyone who was interested could have preordered it in this special case (it was very clear from the very beginning that the supply was very limited) to help Nintendo gauge the demand !

Just answer this, what is stopping Nintendo from printing more copies?

They barely had the powerto give us any games last year, let alone give us this. And this year they have been busy giving us new games.

They should have given us this in 2010 or 2011 at the latest.

Nothing...They still aren´t obligued to reprint it, it is unfortunate but people had their chance to buy it for 50$...that ship has sailed and GameStop took advantage of the situation !

Nintendo likes printing copies of their games based on the mood they are in or on the rare occasion of visible meteorite shower. They sell Wii U as a system with backwards compatibility but it is hard to find many of the wii games unless one goes on a crusade from store to store just to find a legitimate new copy of the game.

It is such a joy to give them money.

now that the Wii generation is over, suddendly you want games to play on it. Nintendo is not Sony nor Microsoft, they need to sell their new systems and make a profit.

I never said they were obligated to print new copies, I said they don't listen to their fans which is obvious since nothing is stopping them from printing more copies and they still refuse to do so despite the outcry.

I can honestly think of 2 Wii games that are pretty expensive in America (Xenoblade and Metroid Prime Trilogy)

The cirsumstances surrounding the former are well explained but about the MPT: It was conceived as a collector´s item from the beginning to "do something for the fans by putting all the games together on a single disc in a collector[']s 'trilogy' edition" (Bryan Walker @ Retro to Mikael Kelbaugh, the president of Retro.

That game hit the bargain bin very soon because nobody bought it (there are many stories circulating around the web of discounted trilogys etc.)

People wanted to wait (for a price drop)...and it did bite them in the ass !

Nintendo of America outright refused to publish three Nintendo games that were already getting translations for the European market: Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story and Pandora's Tower. This spawned a fan campaign that went by the name "Operation Rainfall" that was basically begging NoA to change their minds. Eventually (after many, many months) Xenoblade became a Gamestop-exclusive release in North America while The Last Story and Pandora's Tower ended up being published by Xseed.

Is there some kind of logic behind their refusal?  Why would they agree to make it gamestop-exclusive?  Is the information easily found?

It just came to US last year though. Now we punish them for things 3 years ago?

Oh ya it did.  Well then when you said they are busy printing new games this year I mean common.  Its not like their printing millions of copies of Wii U software every month.  I would think they seperate 3DS software since its on a SD card and not a disc.  I have no doubt they could have rereleaed the game as a player's choice edition.  Also this is all assuming that North American copies of the game were made in Japan.
