Nintendo likes printing copies of their games based on the mood they are in or on the rare occasion of visible meteorite shower. They sell Wii U as a system with backwards compatibility but it is hard to find many of the wii games unless one goes on a crusade from store to store just to find a legitimate new copy of the game.

It is such a joy to give them money.

I can honestly think of 2 Wii games that are pretty expensive in America (Xenoblade and Metroid Prime Trilogy)

The cirsumstances surrounding the former are well explained but about the MPT: It was conceived as a collector´s item from the beginning to "do something for the fans by putting all the games together on a single disc in a collector[']s 'trilogy' edition" (Bryan Walker @ Retro to Mikael Kelbaugh, the president of Retro.

That game hit the bargain bin very soon because nobody bought it (there are many stories circulating around the web of discounted trilogys etc.)

People wanted to wait (for a price drop)...and it did bite them in the ass !
