har har... No its passively cooled and stays quite cool...like an average high end smartphone.

So fans are passive cooling now?

wow...so it uses fans. Only an iFixit teardown could reveal that as its dead silent.

This will die a quiet, lonely death.

No it wont. It uses Android silly and plays PC games... You know, the 2 largest supported platforms on the planet.

So does this actually play anything as good as say Uncharted: Golden Abyss or Gravity Rush? Or does it only play Android phone games and stream PC games?

Which you can easily do on two of the most common platforms that people actually own: A PC and a mobile device (i.e. tablet/phone).

I dont see a reason why anyone would fork over $300 for something that they can easily do on a laptop lol.

That is unless it has its own exclusive games....does it?

You can take a shit in a bucket but you still have a toilet in the house... Phone gaming blows due to lack of buttons and battery that drains quicker than cinematic sequence in a Metal Gear solid game. This thing rapes gaming on a phone in terms of everything...and good luck carrying your 1000 dollar laptop around everywhere and an Xbox controller to get a simillar experience.

Not picking on you specifically but some of you guys whine too much. Price is relative and look around how much a similarly spec'd Android phone costs...500-600 bucks. Yes you can get those on contract and pay 200 but still, if I was a gamer looking to buy a smartphone and play games on the go, I'd rather game on this Shield and have a cheaper smartphone and not pay the carrier $10 per month permium for subsidizing a phone.

What about something like an iTouch which this competes with as well? That thing is 200 bucks for half the memory and features and much worse specs.

And this exclusive talk...jesus christ. Do you people only play exclusives on consoles?  If so this is the exclusive device that is able to play the best versions of Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite out of your bed or on the shitter. Bam!

Just take the device for what it is...a cool, well built premium priced gaming handheld that has some unique gaming features and does many other things beyond the gaming spectrum which may appeal to people who are not cash strapped and like cool gaming gadgets.

Would you rather this device doesn't exist? Choice isn't in anymore?

"Amazing battery life for a portable -- 6+ hours"

lol, do people really think this is amazing? The Vita and 3DS can push 6 hours, especially the XL, and battery life is considered one of their biggest issues.

Meanwhile I can whip out my GBA SP, not even worry about it being fully charged, and go for over 8 hours no problem. Now THAT'S amazing battery life.

It's only good if you have one of the latest graphic cards from Nvidia otherwise half of it's main function is useless

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Yes it has games that are are as good as those and can't be played on any other mobile gaming platform.

Max Payne, Minecraft, Shadowgun, The Conduit HD...

When I am at home, I want to play high end PC or console games. Shield does that...

When I am on the road, or traveling in a hotel, I want to play quality games as well...don't give a shit if it's "exclusive" and can't be played anywhere else.  Shield has quality games that PSVita and 3DS can't play on the go and that is all that matters...

Also, beyond the realm of pure gaming...this has Miracast built in, Chrome browser and all google services and a crapload of other features that are really neat which other smartphones can't provide. When I travel I pretty much have to bring a Windows 8 ultrabook, Iphone 5 smartphone and Nvidia Shield and I have every viable ecosystem with me to pretty much do whatever I want.

Wait, so can you play the PC games outside of your house, or does it only stream them over your wifi in your house? If you can play the PC games in a hotel room on the device installed, without having anything else, that is really cool.  Or do you have to have WIFI and a computer with you?  If that is the case why wouldn't you just play the games on the computer?

I kinda think I'm gonna stick to my 300, add another 100 to it and just get a PS4... Seems more sensible. I'd even rather get a Wii U for that money. When it comes to handhelds, it's not even close to Vita, let alone 3DS. The price will look even more ridiculous when Vita gets a price cut (next week?).

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.
