Right, but that's a minority opinion and has to be accepted as such. Some people liking the Xbox more than the PS2 didn't suddenly make the PS2's sales undeserved.

and where did I imply that?

In the post that started all this?

kupomogli was spitting venom, curl-6 disagreed, you said something that can be easily interpreted as backing kupomogli. Basically, hardware sales are no good indicator of a software library's quality, thus an argument like curl-6's shouldn't be made.

I see the disconnect.

In that particular example, curl was saying that the Vita doesn't have good games using its sales to back up his statement rather than the quality of what's available (regardless of the quality of its library, I don't think sales fit as evidence especially in case of Vita where price and memory cards seem to be the highest barriers to entry).

If I was to make a better example, I would refer to this past generation where the Wii sold the most but has worst library of games.

To those saying that there is a HUGE dispcrepancy in visuals between 3DS and PSV you are dreaming!!! If you look at what the best 3DS has to offer against what PSV has put so far it's not THAT big to matter on a handheld. Ask an average joe to compare SSFF:IV 3D, RE:Revelations, Kid Icarus, DKCR, Luigi's Mansion to Uncharted Golden Abyss, and Gravity Rush and they would say the diffrence doesn't matter.

Opinions and all that I guess...

The 3DS wasn't dead in the water.  It sold no less than 65,000 a week and that was on its very worst week, but it was usually around 90,000 a week.  "As well as it did" doesn't mean "as well as it's doing now."

65,000 at its worst, with around a 90,000 a week average in comparison to the Vitas 30,000-35,000 average after it went to 199 yen in Japan.  Crazy that people would buy a system with hardly anything worthwhile on it and completely avoid a system with a solid library of  titles.

Consumers obviously don't agree with your definition of a solid library.

Just as we know quality has very little to do with sales, there's not much coorelation between a library and its sales.

... seriously?

Software sells hardware, that's one of the core truths of the industry. If consumers found the Vita's library desirable, they wouldn't be shunning it.

this train of thought never really made sense to me, especially seeing the how well the Wii did and what kind of support it got. So Vita doing better really wouldnt mean much and vice versa. someone explain to me, unless its another fanboy thing.

The Wii may not have gotten strong third party support, but it had hugely desirable first party games, hence its library is very much the reason it sold.

it would have gotten those first party games anyway so is it really relevant it sold more?

it would have gotten the same 1st party support(mostly) no matter how it sold, so IMO i dont see the point it wanting it to sell better than the competitors or vice versa. Same thing Vita, it doesnt really matter if it does better than 3DS because the support most likely wont change. So im asking why would anyone really WANT it to do better?

I want them both to do well. I do not like the 3DS, I think it pretty well sucks. However, I understand competition and when there is competition great games are made.

Just like I want Wii U, PS4, and X180 to all do on par with each other or at the very least I want the kind of numbers like we had with the prev gen. Wii may have been the clear winner but you can't say the PS3 or X360 were no competition. That gen is probably the best we've ever had. I own more games of that gen than I do of any other gen. I have high hopes for the next gen.

As apposed to the handheld market where the clear loser was PSP and maybe now even the PSVITA. The handheld market sucks with very few good games.

So you're asking why someone would want the Wii to sell well when the first party was a lock anyway?

Simple; because positive sales encouraged Nintendo to keep doing what it was doing instead of changing tactics.
