So what do you guys think of it? Is this how you imagined Pokemon in 3D? Most importantly, do you prefer this cartoony/anime artstyle over the cartoony-realistic style we've seen before?

While I'm perfectly fine with they way X/Y looks, I've always been a fan of the cartoony-realistic style (sorry for lack of a better term). Seeing stuff normally found in fantasy cartoons in a real world environment has always tickled my fancy! You can bet that I loved the way Pokemon Battle Revolution looked! Then after seeing Pokedex 3D, I thought for sure that'd mean the next Pokemon game would look like that. So yeah, I was a bit disappointed when I first saw X/Y, but I'm way over that now, as the game still looks awesome! So tell me what you think and be sure to vote in the poll!

Unfortunately I don't have access to a computer and wont for a while, so I couldn't post any comparison pics. You'll have to just type into google images Pokemon X/Y for the cartoony/anime style, and either Pokemon Battle Revolution or Pokedex 3D for cartoony-realistic. If anyone could post comparison shots in this thread then it'd be much appreciated!

I'm really impressed with how nice battle animations look. To me it's like they brought the sprites to life -- like they somehow found a way to render and animate sprites in 3D. Looks gorgeous.

I think I'm gonna miss the sprites. I've known them for the past ~14 years.

I was a bit concerned on how they intended to make the models, due to the 3DS's low resolution, but this small border that's around the models looks pretty awesome, it gives off that awesome vibe that the 2-D sprites had, and makes the Pokemon look good despite the resolution!

The only thing I don't get is why the trainers aren't there during battles. It was understandable before when they were doing 2D as they could only fit so much on screen, but there's no reason for them not to be there now.

xD i think it sounds a bit harsh but it's like - they're gonna give me a new porsche and it's a cayman, it's ok but i would have preffered any other porshce, I just don't like how pokemon look in 3D, they seem off place.
