Forums - Sales Discussion - Analyst: "Slow PlayStation Vita sales could lead to loss of first party support."

Since I'm a "new" member I can't post my own topic (sigh...) so I'll have to post in threads like these when I have questions.

1. Does anyone know when the next vgchart will be released? I'm hoping it's today since I'm dying to know how Pikmin 3 has impacted wii u sales in United States.

2. Does anyone have any idea how good Pikmin 3 is selling in the U.S? I've heard from people that it's been sold out in a number of stores they've gone too but I didn't know if this was a national trend. I can't find any tracking data on it right now.

2016, but..but the PSVita's sales are still low, still does not have any real good games, and Sony has not made any real 1st party games for the system

than the person posting thinks to themselves:

but why is it still selling? it would have died on the market by now, but why is it still selling on the shelf..

Im calling it right now the PSVita just will not die! lmao

The more people are going to keep claiming it will be long dead,The more the PSVita zombie will keep walking out of the grave.

I AM BOLO

100% lover "nothing else matter's" after that...

ps:

Proud psOne/2/3/p owner.  I survived Aplcalyps3 and all I got was this lousy Signature.

The charts were getting delayed the past weeks, but it seems like they catched up now. expect hardware numbers on thursday or friday.

pikmin 3 pre orders for USA were in the 60k+. add a few other countries and non pre-sales copies and it will probably do over 100k FW.

BigBig Studios was closed shortly after disappointing sales of their PSV title Little Deviants.
Zipper Interactive was closed shortly after disappointing sales of their PSV title Unit 13.
Studio Liverpool was closed not too long after disappointing sales of their PSV title WipEout 2048.

This has already been known.  Little Deviants was just a stupid decision.  The game was garbage.  I liked BigBig Studio for the t wo games that they developed that were good though.  Pursuit Force 1 and 2.  I would have r eally liked to play a Vita version.

Zipper Interactive and Studio Liverpool were two extremely goodstudios.  Both dated back to way back in the 80s and 90s.  While the Wipeout series are really good, I wish they would have got Studio Liverpool to work on other titles, because back when they were Psygnosis, they released a lot of quality titles in many different genres.

Are we still in 2012? Oh wait no. Actual reality suggests Vita is picking up in Japan.

Sorry to tell you this, but the Vita is still doing poorly in Japan.  The pricecut did make a higher low for the Vita's weekly sales, but without the proper games it wont make it far before numbers go back down to previous numbers.

It's certainly not 3DS levels, but I think Vita has hit "escape velocity" as the UK government would say. PSP/Vita dual releases now sell better on Vita, Marvelous have increased their projections due to strong Vita sales and it's getting regular announcements in Japan.

It don't think it'll ever hit the peaks of the PSP let alone DS, but I think it's got a sustainable market in Japan now. The West on the otherhand is a completely different story.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

That's hardly any indicator of success.  Like I said, it needs "proper" games.  Basically, a system can get games in general and the system will still sell poorly, with the occasional bump from holidays and game releases.  It has not properly sustained its sales post pricecut.

Price drops and deals from both Sony and retailers.

It happened with the Wii U and 3DS, so why not with the Vita? Even though third parties love Sony, it is hard to continue support if money is tight.

The topic is about FIRST PARTY not third party.

As for topic, only read half of it, but didn't think about this when I saw the PSAS island game.  Is really weird that a company with a handheld device would release a game on another handheld device.  While I'm sure Sony won' abandon Vita completely for a while I'm sure they have already slowed new games being made on it.

We'll have to wait and see how the Vita does after PS4 is released.  If it don't improve, I can see the Vita being discontinued by 2015.

Does that mean we won't get any charts until then or that's what it will be when they get back on track? We haven't had a chart since 8.3.13, 8 days ago, and I thought they come out every week seeing as they are "weekly charts."

And also, will vgchartz be reporting on digital sales as well? I'm sure a lot of people will simply download Pikmin 3 straight from Nintendo.

the were releasing a week late chart on monday/tuesday but last week they imedeately released the following chart 2 days later. so If they don't have any delay, thursday/friday will have the charts for days 4/10.
