Forums - Nintendo - Yakuza 1&2 HD for Wii U Improvements

Sega just launched Yakuza 1&2 HD for the Wii U this week and the producer Mitsuhiro Shimano has discussed what makes the Wii U version unique over the PS3 version.

There will be a revamped difficulty mode, making the game a tad bit easier for newcomers to pick up and play. The tutorials have been streamlined a bit, making it easier to understand as well. The batting centers and mini games have been tweaked for a better playing experience as well.

Off TV play, full 1080p support, and touch controls are supported as well. For all the enhancements. Full list here:http://www.siliconera.com/2013/08/09/sega-made-yakuza-1-2-hd-beginner-and-family-friendly-for-wii-u/

SEGA approached this completely the wrong way.Bad SEGA!

I haven't really played any Yakuza games yet, although they always have interested me, maybe I'll pick up this collection and then buy the ones on PS3.

Unless you live in Japan, no you wont. Has been announced for west sadly. I pray it does though.

these so late-cheap ports for WiiU are laughable. im really shocked that publishers cant come up with something better than this
they set themselves to fail

"The tutorials have been streamlined making it easier to understand."

What's not easy to understand when at the beginning of Yakuza they force you to repeatedly do one action a certain amount of times, move onto the next action, repeat, and then after everything is taught they tell you to beat the rest of the enemies.

The only thing I hope they've added in the HD additions, aside from being HD, is the one quest feature in Yakuza Dead Souls. Yakuza Dead Souls allowed you to see where you'd walk to on the map or who you'd talk to in order to initiate a quest. Makes it much easier to go through and do all the quests. Yakuza Dead Souls was pretty disappointing in comparison to the others though, so I haven't did anything after beating the game, but it's a good option for the Yakuza games I like.  Saves all that constant walking back and forth down each steet at all times of the day or using a guide to find all the quests.

Hopefully, Sega at least goes the XSeed route and releases it in the Western countries via eShop. I just have no faith with Japanese publishers outside of Atlus, Nintendo and Xseed these days about actually bringing stuff over.

Why are we still getting old ports? Because they are so cheap to make? Or do devs really think they are going to sell at all on the Wii U? Just more fodder for the fire. I hope it at least pushes 100,000 copies, but I will not hold my breath. Maybe later in the Wii U lifecycled these sorts of things can come out. But not now. I am happy for more games, but..

It doesn't really hurt anything. It's a drag when it's EA or something and that's literally all we get, but this is Sega; they're also giving the Wii U three exclusive games in the next 6-9 months or so. They're doing their part. This is just a nice little extra.

I haven't played 1,2 or 3 started on 4 (like a few hours in) but might pick up this if its worth it
