Wattttt? Why wouldn't you buy this game? It got tons of features and is surely going to be one of the best games of 3DS's Generation O.o

The benefit to pre-ordering a game is knowing that you'll have the game the minute it releases.
Also, there aren't any drawbacks. So why not?

your probably the only person in the world that wont play pokemon, but wants pokemon snap? WTF?
After the disappointing Black & White(IMO), the announcement of this game was a breath of fresh air. I haven't been excited to play a new Pokémon game since gen 3, not this time, though. I'm buying Y when it's released.

Pretty much this. I preordered Pikmin 3 even tho I was for sure they would have many copies, turns out they only got 6, and I walked away with the last one while 3 others came before me without preorder. Would have had to wait another week for more.
Now for Pokemon Y, since I'm DL'in it, no need to preorder for me.

No, definitely not. You can wither pre-order online (in which case that would happen) or pre-order at the store. In which case mailing wouldn't happen and you can drive your happy little self to the store and pick it up.

Pre-order bonuses, special editions, getting the game before anyone can spoil it for you, assuring a copy of the game if it may sell out, etc.
How do you not already know this?
edit: I use etc. because there are more reasons, but some of them are more specific to certain websites than pre-orders in general.
