Forums - Sony - PS3 version of achievements?

The thing that always got me about the how acomplishment/trophy scheme is the amount of HDD space that the trophys would take up.

If a trophy was awarded for getting 100 headshots with an AK47, would the trophy video end up showing all 100 headshots? Because that could end up being long and harddrive-heavy. Or, if uploaded, it could take awhile, and corrupted when switching off the console, or the internet connection jacks in. Hell, it could even put pressure on the people who are stuck with bandwidth limits.

A better idea would be to have 2 systems in place. Have both accomplishments and trophys. Each game can have 1,000 points worth of accomplishments (like achievements) and these would be the 100 headshot things. Trophies would be for big moments, and there are only five in a game. Like a minute clip of doing "Mile High Club" on Veteran in CoD4.

Hell, whilst we are on the subject of features Sony could include, how about a montage maker? So, if the user has a keyboard plugged in, they can just hit a button to begin recording, and another to stop the recording (straight to HDD). And then the user can use a special icon in the video section to open a basic editor (just have options for cuttign down clips, mergin clips, sound and text overlays). Then an upload button, which could temporarily upload the montages for 30 days, or something. Enough time for the creator to download the video and upload it elsewhere.

Unless the accomplishments unlock something I really just don't care :x Uncharted was so badass in that regard xD The moment I turned on the "Next Gen Filter", I knew they were onto something ;)

So unless more developers actually take the time to make unlocking things worth while, I just don't see the point :/

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

If only to stop the reviewers from giving otherwise equal multi-plats higher scores on 360, I'm looking forward to Trophies in Home (and yes, just call them trophies and let me know that I got it. Don't call them something stupid like "accomplishments" and make me stop the game to click "ok, I killed five people with head shots. Now let me go kill another five without having to click through a stupid screen.") Also, maybe Sony asked Capcom to call it "accomplishments" instead of Trophies so that it won't be TOO obviously a reference to Home. If that's the case, Sony and/or Capcom could just release a simple patch to chnge what they're called when Home comes out. Maybe Capcom figured that they's just go ahead and include the Home plug-in in DMC4 from the beginning instead of having to write a patch after Home comes out like other games such as Motorstorm will have to get.

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it
