They should probably wait a little bit and make the choices Pikmin 3, Super Mario 3D World, DK Tropical Freeze and Wonderful 101.  It would be closer to holiday season so more people would be inclinded to buy it and this is a much better selection of games.

The thing is they would probably want to use older games since those newer ones will sell themselves this year. Back in the day when they did this for GC, the deal went into affect early 2003 but used games from the second half of 2002. If they used those games u listed then it would most likely be early 2014 when the deal goes into affect.

Either that or they could do it as a holiday promotion starting on Black Friday and use Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Wind Waker HD and Wii Party U.

The problem with that is none of the games in your initial list are a patch on either Metroid Prime or Starfox Adventures in terms of popularity or hype. There's no doubt that the 2013 games can sell themselves, but to whom?

There's only so many games that 4 million can buy, and Nintendoland doesn't seem to be inspiring many to take the plunge.  They need to lower the barrier to entry and one way to do that is give people options, let them pick up the system with a game of their choice and don't make them pay for stuff they don't want. Every time someone picks up a WiiU with Pikmin 3 they create a potential new buyer of W101, WWHD, Mario and DK etc. Nintendo need to do this to ensure they get ROI on their upcoming big franchises and create more fertile ground for third parties.

$399 Super Mario Bundle?

Includes NSMBU and Super Mario 3D World. Nintendo Land is also included as a digital download. Also includes a Pro Controller + $25 eShop credit. I could see a ton of customers buying this bundle for the said price.

Drop the 8 GB model. Sell the 32 GB one without a game for the same price.

Wii U 32 GB + NSMBU/Mario 3D World/DK Tropical Island/Zelda HD/Mario & Sonic/Just Dance 5 bundles (yes, stop force-bundling Nintendoland with the 32 GB model).

Not that it would help much, but...

New Bundle: 128 GB Starter Kit ($399) (2015)

Includes:

-128 GB Wii U
-Wii U Gamepad with better battery
-Wii Remote Plus + Nunchuck
-2 Pro Controller

Meh...it'd work..maybe

Too much planning, and you'll never get anything done.

Seriously. On occasion company PR agents or interns DO read forum threads like this. It's the ridiculous comments like this which make this be "on occasion."

i would say put 60 dollars in eshop credit and maybe keep nintendo land in the deluxe bundle

$60 is a bit much. I'd say $30 and a 300 GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive with some Nintendo artwork slapped on it. You can give it a stand and put it next to the Wii U like you knew what you were doing to begin with.

Speaking of eShop, though, it'd be awesome if they put up a fair number of their older Wii games up on the eShop at or below their used game prices. Considering that even for Nintendo games older than about 2009 are basically dead in the market, sales on a discount is basically free money. And I'm sure Xenoblade Chronicles on the eShop would sell some Wii U units. That game is fetching $250 on some parts of the internet.

I wouldn't use any ideas from the Gamecube era. Also, giving gamers credit or choice with bundles lessens the impact. I would look at lowering existing prices of deluxe bundles with NL or Z.U., or fresh bundles with new product. Zelda: WW, COD: Ghosts and Wii Fit U are good potential options, and maybe even SM3DW. I don't like choice because it makes the value less concrete to the customer. "Included: One of ...." doesn't have the impact of "Zelda Bundle" or "Fitness bundle".

No bundles, price cut. The system is too expensive. They need to kill off the basic and sell one SKU, the black console for $249.99. Then they need to start releasing games like they did for the 3DS. If they do that, they will succeed.

It's not going to happen, but if I were in charge, I'd also ditch the game pad and replace it with the pro controller. I'd make the game pad an accessory. This way they could sell it cheap without losing money.
