Forums - Sony - [RUMOR] PS4 Recording Feature Not Limited to 15 Minutes, Local saving, PSN upload

From GAF.

The 15 minute thing is that before you even hit record, the PS4 keeps the last 15 minutes of gameplay recorded incase you do something unexpected, rather than wishing you had been recording and trying to recapture it. While actively recording/streaming, you're virtually unlimited.

Also, the retail PS4s we have here at work, we're able to capture footage from them using the same devices we've been using on the 360, PS3, Wii, and WiiU.

When asked where he worked:

Also the PS4 allows you to upload the videos to your PSN profile, or save them to the harddrive where they can be exported and brought into something like Premiere or Final Cut. You aren't limited to the included editing software or anything.

Aw damn I didn't realize I hadn't gotten the Burner key for the Dagson screename... ugh.

jschreier asked him to contact him, so if he gets verified then we're probably going to see an article from kotaku, and a mod can remove rumor from the title.

What matters more is the resolution of capture. I asked yosp but got no reply :(

Oh so you can decide to record and keep it going. I think this console just became day one for BasilZero

Sony have a chip capturing the video/audio just before HDMI out... if the this audio that goes to HDMI out have the voice chat then yes for your question.

This was something that I really wanted to know. It was weird how it was "limited" to 15 minutes of recording. That way you would actually have to activate it and then it would start recording and stop as soon as it hit 15 minutes. It kind of defeats the purpose of capturing an unexpected moment when you sort of planned to record a match or gameplay from the beginning.

But damn, I wonder how they would even achieve this? It's constantly recording you playing games all the time every time? God damn...

Oh and also, PS4 always watching you play games confirmed (sort of confirmed).

Why? It is always recording the last 15 minutes... so you will never lost unexpected moments

There two modes from what I read...

1) Auto: always recording the last 15 minutes
2) Manual: you say start to record here and it will record until you say stop record (or your HDD space ends)

Of course if you are using the manual record then the auto record will stop until you off the manual.

No no no. It always was always watching, it just had short term memory. If you pressed share you would have the 15 minutes before you ever pressed the button.

Now if you press the button you have the option to record like a traditional recorder too.
