Forums - General Discussion - Hillary is XBox 360, Obama is Wii?

Taking off from madskillz' ingenious game system to presidential candidate analogy (see here: http://dukecitygamerz.blogspot.com/2008/01/if-white-house-candidates-were-video.html )

Does Super Tuesday's results last night seem much like that famous XBox 360 beaten by Wii in Summer/July prediction I made?

XBox 360 the expected 7th gen leader and frontrunner getting caught quick and ultmately surpassed by this underdog called Wii.

Hillary was like the New England Patriots. Everybody expected them to have this in the bag even if they thought the New York Giants would give them a tough fight. But the Giants paralleling what we see with Obama stunned the scene with a tightly fought but ultimately successful outcome.

Hillary wins strong in the Super-Delegates (I wonder if they're related to the Justice League), XBox 360 wins strong with the "Hardcore".

Barack appeals strong to a wide cross-section of regions and political affiliations including those who don't normally vote Democrat. Wii appeals strong to a wide cross-section of audiences including those who would never play video games.

It's uncanny how the videogame world and the American football world sort of tell the story of how this U.S. Election contest is running at least among the Democrat side.

Is Hillary doomed to be red-ringed (oh man just made a Republican pun!) and will Obama shine with the blue light? (another one! A Democratic pun!)

Does Hillary have to make a price cut or flood money into gathering support? Will Obama be running into supply constraint and shortages?

Is Hillary Clinton the XBox 360, Is Barack Obama the Wii, and does this analogy mean that Barack Obama is the next President of the United States?

Well lets think of it this way:

1988 - 1992 = bush
1992 - 2000 = clinton
2000 - 2008 = bush

If hillary wins, are we gonna have another clinton?

Some people that are voting (born in 1988 or whereabouts) have never known a president other than clinton or bush. Isn't that creepy?

If you went republican, you'd be continuing the legacy of the Bush establishment. If you went Hillary, then you'd just have more bush/clinton/bush/clinton.

Anyways, if people truly wanted change, they would have to go for Obama.

I'd say Bush and Clinton are like PS3 and Xbox360. Obama I guess would be a Wii in this case. Obama is definitely disrupting the establishment.

Before even reading your statement, I'm going to have to say no.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

not really. Clinton has more experience and Ninty has more experience than Sony and MS

So is george Bush the PS3 then??,....Lol

Sorry, but I don't see the correlation. I mean Obama FTW, but he so far is not destroying Clinton. So, how do they relate to the X360/Wii?

I don't really see how but I do want Obama to win. Any one is better than Clinton.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)
Nintendo ID: Mako91                  3DS code: 4167-4543-6089

mccain? Wii? on you on drugs?

i'd like clinton to win. but she might have trouble against mccain... so i don't know. obama has i'd estimate a 75% of beating mccain, whereas with clinton it's pretty much a toss-up.

so... i don't know.

the Wii is an epidemic.

But he's making progress fast though.

He was counted out only to win a handful of states and delegates and he snuck up on 'em much like Wii did the XBox 360 last year.

I mean analogies are always partial and approximate. They only take one or few traits and make a connection. They're never exact and you can take an analogy and flip it on its head to make a counter analogy much like some of the other posters did in this thread. (Nintendo has the experience Hillary has the experience)

But for the traits I singled out I see Hillary representing the strong but limited base of hardcore Democrats like XBox 360 does for self-proclaimed hardcore gamers with Barack not only getting Democrats but Republicans and Independents on his side being able to cross demographics like Wii.

And I see the rate of his ascension much like the rate of Wii's ascension about this time last year.

Last February the 360 had 9 going on 10 million while Wii had 5 million. "Any day now the Wii will lose its momentum" most people thought like when I first came here last March with people still thinking that Wii could not beat XBox 360 within 2007. Yet the Wii got stronger and stronger until it beat what was assumed to be the untouchable XBox 360 and its year long headstart in the summer.

Much like the 7th generation of gaming is clamoring for change in the way things have been done, Obama is proclaiming change in the way things have been done. And it seems to be successful.

From where I'm sitting Obama is Wii and as Wii he will be champion. He will be President. I think Hillary is limited as how far she can go. After she exhausts appealing to her base she won't be able to go any further and Barack won't have that limitation.

I predict, hell, I KNOW it will be Barack Obama Vs. John McCain for 2008 U.S. Presidental Election.

Might even put it in my signature as crowded as that already is.

And I like That Guy's take on the topic. Obama = Wii = Blue Ocean Disruptor. Bush = PS3 + Hillary = XBox 360 = Establishment/Old Guard.
