Here are some of the big innovations each company has done:

Nintendo:

-Really brought back gaming after the big crash with the NES

-Started the slim console trend

-First controller to bring an analog stick (N64)

-First controller with rumble attachment

-First wireless controller

-Revolutionalized motion controlls

- Did not start slim console trend.
- Atari had analogue stick as main controller.
- PC
- PC
- PC and lots of other consoles had controllers that did this.

But they did the motion consoles, sure.

Nintendo's biggest contribution to gaming is the great games they made in the 80s and 90s.  Outside of games they've done very little innovation, aside from Wii's motion controls.

Who started the slim trend then?  There was a slim nes and SNES.  Atari had joystick not analog stick...  Also this is in context of consoles not PCs.

Trends are innovations?

Compare the size for example of the SEGA Megadrive 1 & the SEGA Megadrive 2.

Sony's list of "innovations" is nothing but baloney. (more coat tail riding than innovation)

The ONLY correct answer above is Nintendo.

In fact, i find it insulting to see 13 votes (currently) up there for sony.

You find it insulting that people have different opinions than you?  Also idk how you would find it insulting unless you work at Nintendo.

I find it insulting because all the slaps on the back that sony get from some folk on here is IMO completely unjustified.

They wait for people to innovate, and than simply tweak it and take  all the god damn credit, via advertising it as their own with huge budgets.

Oh, and the slim was in the Nintendo section, not the sony one, my mistake, i'll take that jab at sony back.

Of the big three, Nintendo has without a doubt done the most overall for Gaming, but there is no denying Sony pretty much built gaming up to the scale we see now (or at least propelled its rise to the mainstream by quite a few years). Despite that though, I think Nintendo still out them in this.

MS have done quite a few great things (Xbox Live being the biggest), but none that could be considered game changing (heh) for the industry. That's likely due to the fact they arrived late more than anything.

Sony are the ones who made slim consoles popular, most people don't even know slim NES versions existed.  You said trend, a trend is something that catches on and is popular, Ninty's attempts at slim consoles were not.

I said STARTED the trend, not popularize the trend.  Nintendo started it then Sony made it popular.  It doesn't matter how popular the nes or snes slims were, they started it.  Also something doesn't have to be popular to be a trend.

something i found online:

I voted Nintendo, if Nintendo never rejected the Nintendo/Sony console hybrid then Sony would have never gone on to make Playstation and change gaming forever.

I hadn't even thought of it like that

Nintendo definitely the most innovative

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Atari

Also a joystick and analogue stick are same thing.

Sure, just like all rectangles are squares.
