Sony made gaming mass market by targeting the PlayStation one for everyone, and making gaming look cool

I think that's got to be one of the most revolutionary idea

Did Sony do that or did companies like Capcom, Konami, Electronic Arts, Square, etc. do that?  I don't know about you but when I had my PS1, Sony was nowhere near the ones delivering the best experience.  Sony provided good hardware for devs to make whatever they wanted but that was it.  Gran Turismo for PS1, may be the sole exception.  Crash, maybe?  Think back to the PS1 games that people remember.  The games that "made gaming cool".  Did Sony really create them?  From where I sit, it was mostly developers fleeing Nintendo and their expensive cartridges and shady business practices that made the PS1 shine.

You can argue with games like Ico or God of War but were those games really that popular or have that much impact on anything?

Your missing achievements. Which is the best innovation this generation imo.

Also Microsoft pioneered not just online gaming. But also Pioneered Social networking in gaming viia Xbox Live with apps etc. Essentially a gaming facebook.

Sega pioneered online gaming on consoles. Microsoft just helped them two generations after their first attempt on the Genesis and then the Saturn. The PS3 had apps before Xbox Live. Xbox Live didnt really have them until NXE.

Well Sega attempted a dial up internet based service.

Microsoft pioneered online gaming and its infrastructure. Forced Broadband only. Dedicated servers. Lag free online matches. Games that actually didnt disconnect

I KNow I had a Dreamcast. It wasnt online gaming. It was Ghost online gaming. in 2 mins bursts.

Get the hell out of here with PS3. LOL at it had apps first. Not sure why you think NXE brought that to the table, it was on Blades in 2006. Just not the same way.

As for the whole Live social experience which is what I was referring to, Microsoft created that and brought it to the console world.

So like I said.

1. Microsoft created achievements.

2. Microsoft created a social network for consoles

These 2 things are missing from the OP list and have been the most heavily copied innovations this generations.

I never denied Microsoft created achievements or the social network. I said online gaming wasn't pioneered by them and they werent the first to have apps.

Of course Nintendo. Their games are the most famous ones, they can establish names and characters like noone.
And without Nintendo, no Playstation and thus no Xbox.
There is no other way to say Nintendo.

Definitely nintendo first, sony was the first to offer online gaming on a console and push multi-media usage on gaming console, ms seems to have mosyly just copied innovation while bringing some major improvements along the way as well. Aslo ms devices popularized modding on consoles

I will permaban myself if the game releases in 2014.

in reference to KH3 release date

I think Sega should be added to the OP, I really do think they would compare quite favorably against some of the others....

Sony. They turned gaming into more than just a toy for kids.

Surprisingly, someone had already beat you to the punch.  I already responded to them saying pretty much nothing at how absurd it was.  Coming from you as the second person only accentuates how ridiculous it is, given your track record.

edit: I'll be a bit more fair to you and mention the fact that mature games existed before Sony and have existed on the Nintendo platform.  Of course there were censoring, but at the same time if you really want to call Nintendo the whole "kiddy toy console" for that, Sony still wouldn't take the prize.  SEGA would.  So you're clearly either one of two things.  Either you're a hardcore Sony fan, or you simply don't know much of the history of gaming. (or both, actually).

Not saying that there weren't but Nintendo systems were made first and foremost for kids - colorful, simple games. Games that even kids can play.

nintendo only saved the industry in the US, it was doing fine elsewhere

Gaming barely existed in Europe and was almost exclusively the domain of the arcades in Japan before the NES. So yes there wasn't much saving outside the USA... Only something to build.

Dude, go back and play some Nes or Super Nes games and then get back to me!  Games that even kids can play?  My little girl can beat most of the "hardcore" games I own on PS3 and 360!  Meanwhile, I doubt many of the "hardcore" gamers of today have what it takes to finish those "kids games" of yesteryear.  Anybody can play any game but back then, games required some serious skills and reflexes.  Things really got easier with the change to 3D.

from the day sony arrived in gaming definitly sony.

oh yer reflexes had to be sharp. What I hate with NES and SNES is now 20 years on I suck at some of the games I mastered because I jsut don't react as quickly lol.
