Clearly Nintendo. Without Nintendo gaming as we know it wouldn't even exist. No matter how much you hate Nintendo, not voting for them in this thread is far beyond delusional.

without bias the only answer is nintendo. i know everyday they see sony they kick themselves for turning down that cd drive system. who knows where gaming would be right now

Whoever voted Sony or Microsoft to the pole are 100% wrong. You are. Sony havent done anything except mainstream use of disc.

Microsoft have only pioneered console online multiplayer and console social networking as well as achievements and HD console gaming.

Nintendo have done everyting from annalog sticks too Rumble features to motion controls etc.

NINTENDO EASILY win this one. EASILY.

Nintendo, for revitalizing the industry after the crash.

Sony aren't far behind with what they achieved with the PS1 and PS2 though.

I just don't understand how some people can say it's a matter of personal taste so on and so fort... The question is not who made the best games according to your personal preferances or who made you enjoy gaming the most. I totally respect everyone choice for any console but we are talking about historical evidence here.

Technically they did not save it.  It crashed before they entered the western gaming market, and they filled the hole left by Atari and others bowing out.

Saving it would have meant entering it before or during the crash, and revitalizing it.  Thus companies like Atari would still be in the industry. 

It's kind of like saying a lion is saving the antelope herd when it feeds on an antelope.

I'll say Nintendo for reasons already mentioned by the thread. I mean if you are responsible for "saving the industry" in the first place then the answer is obvious.

The other competitors obviously made huge contributions to the industry....that Nintendo "saved." See...

Surprisingly, someone had already beat you to the punch.  I already responded to them saying pretty much nothing at how absurd it was.  Coming from you as the second person only accentuates how ridiculous it is, given your track record.

edit: I'll be a bit more fair to you and mention the fact that mature games existed before Sony and have existed on the Nintendo platform.  Of course there were censoring, but at the same time if you really want to call Nintendo the whole "kiddy toy console" for that, Sony still wouldn't take the prize.  SEGA would.  So you're clearly either one of two things.  Either you're a hardcore Sony fan, or you simply don't know much of the history of gaming. (or both, actually).

Sony made gaming mass market by targeting the PlayStation one for everyone, and making gaming look cool

I think that's got to be one of the most revolutionary idea
