Forums - Nintendo - The Empire strikes back

I just saw an TV advert for Pikmin 3 in the ad breaks of Star Trek. Has it finally begun?

I've just seen an add too at the movies (despicable me 2). Not about pikmin 3 but just about the WiiU.
Second one I've seen since launch. But that might be because I don't watch TV

What does Star Trek have to do with The Empire Strikes Back?

I'm guessing the OP just meant Nintendo's advertisments signal a actual counter offensive to all the crap and little advertisments they have had in recent months since the Wii U dropped.

It works since the only Star Trek reference that would fit might be 'The Wrath of Iwata' or 'The Search for Louie'

Star Trek has everything to do with Star Wars. If you like Star Wars, you must hate Star Trek and vice versa

not really. I love both. Though I'd classify star wars as not actually science fiction, but fantasy.

Wait are you saying there is a diffence?

We aren't talking about a documentary on proven facts, real interviews with actual witnesses and other proven details about a real terrorist incident compared to "White House Down" here.

science fiction is to me based on scientific concepts though often times writers screw up these concepts. The things in Star Trek, Time Travel, Worm Holes, etc, are all vaguely based on real concepts.

Fantasy uses magic or in this case the force to describe things without explaining how magic exists (though to be fair Episode 1 started to explain it with midicloreans or whatever to many peoples disliking). Nor does it follow any laws of physics in space (IE no sound, lasers going slower than actual bullets, faster than light is not elaborated on, etc), or really anything remotely based in science.

That's just me. And they're not mutually exclusive, science fiction can have fantasy elements and vice versa. And its quite offtopic. heh

well, they finally got games now, so they have something to advertise XD
expect this to continue from now on, since we'll be getting one/+ game/s per month from now on :D

Things are definitely picking up for Wii U. I can't stop playing Pikmin 3, it's amazing.

Ive seen a few ads recently here in the UK. Also the tour de France tv coverage was sponsered by Wii U, so that would have given a fair bit of exposure.
