Forums - Gaming - Nvidia demonstrats how Cloud computing could be used to improve graphics.

Nvidia has been working on a system called CloudLight, they are per-rendering some of the region on the server, then each local computer will do a finer detail on each separate system or console.  So global illumination, with photon mapping, could be rendered on the server, then your perspective would be rendered on your console.

It's a rather interesting idea. As I think GPU tech will vastly increase in the next few years, this, theoretically could be used to extend the life of a console.  It also shows how even with fairly high latency, 200 ms+ it could still be utilized.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

That's exactly what we need, better graphics, fuck the gameplay.

that's irrelevant a game having good graphics does not mean it doesn't have great gameplay. It if anything enhances it... Not to mention nvidia makes hardware and tech and not games.

Your post is quite offtopic. good job!

OT: I really don't think is the way to go with games. In the workplace where the latency would be less I think would be the most useful place. But I've been wrong many times before.

Why exactly do you think anyone has to sacrifice gameplay in order to make graphics better?  Why not aim high for both?

Certain game developers have been doing exactly that for years.

First of all, they're not mutually exclusives

Secondly, Nvidia is in the business of graphics technology. Their entire business revolves around getting you to buy more powerful hardware. They're not a game developer. So what exactly did you come in here expecting to see?

Think before you post

This is great and all but until internet as a whole gets much faster, very few people will actually benefit from this.

This will be the way of the future but its just too early.

You still havent explained how taking activity away from a console and having it done in the cloud will reduce resources for gameplay?

Its a ridiculous argument.  Just admit you misunderstood and leave it at that.

I apologise for not being an uber-graphics nerd. Sorry.
