it would be the stupidest thing ever if rockstar released the game on the WiiU

Why?

It would be a huge system seller, and Nintendo fans have shown support to GTA before (China town wars on DS)

Current Game Machines: 3DS, Wii U, PC.

Currently Playing: X-Com(PC), Smash Bros(WiiU), Banner Saga(PC), Guild Wars 2(PC), Project X Zone(3DS), Luigis Mansion 2(3DS), DayZ(PC)

Makes a harsh statement, doesn't give arguments, ChinaTown sold more on DS than PSP, doesn't get banned. I get banned for calling The Last of Us an interactive movie.

None of this makes any sense. There was no GTA presence on Xbox until GTA was on XBox. There was no Final Fantasy presence on XBox until FF went there (or PlayStation for that matter). Those games did fine. If GTA5 was on Wii U it would sell way over 200k and make money and possibly convert a few new fans. I see no reason not to do it. It's a good game, Wii U owners would buy it.

How do you know 200k will make it a profitable venture? I hear this sort of statement a lot on here, ninty fans demanding games get ported to Wii U regardless of historic sales or apparent gamer demographics, with the justification that a port should be cheap and therefore profitable with low sales. But I never see any evidence to back that up. Re-designing your game engine to run on a very different architecture isn't easy, you don't just press the 'compile to Wii-U' button and start burning the disks. Massive games like GTA takes years of beta testing and QA as well, which they'd have to redo for a new engine.

The original Xbox got GTA because the PC got GTA 3 (the PC was the lead platform for GTA 1 and 2, with PS1 getting ports) and the Xbox was a PC. GTA 3 first came to PS2 because Sony paid for the timed exclusivity. 360 got FF because at the time the PS3 wasn't going well and didn't look able to support SE's 5 million sales target that they were banking on to make the game profitable.

There is nothing stopping Nintendo paying money to Rockstar to ensure a Wii-U port happens. Rockstar are a business, they'd do anything if the risk is worth the reward, and if Nintendo take some of that risk by co-funding a port then Rockstar would likely make one (like they did with GTA3 for PS2). To date that hasn't happened, but if Nintendo wants these type of games then they'll probably need to, especially when their install-base is so low. And before you say 'but ps4 and xbone's install base is 0', the ps4 and xbone 1) are the natural sucessors to the consoles that have supported the previous games (so lower risk) and 2) are basically suped up PC's (which lowers porting costs, though I'd still say they'd be looking for sales far higher than 200k, which is likely given point 1).

Its not some conspiracy, its just business. The question is why isn't Ninty buying 3rd party support like MS did in the early days of 360 when they raked in billions in profits with the Wii? What are they doing with that money? It doesn't seem like they spend it on more dev teams, so what is it being used for?

What are you going on about? I don't care if GTA5 comes to Wii U. I'm just saying it makes sense. Ubisoft said it was easy to port PS360 titles to Wii U and cost about a million bucks to do it. If Rockstar sold 100k they would easily cover costs. The rest is gravy.

Rockstar never had a presence on nintendo consoles, why should they bother with the WiiU now? GTA fans are spread between the PS3, Xbox 360 and a bit for the PC. their other games like RDR, L.A noire, and max payne all skipped nintendo consoles. my point is, they do NOT have a fanbase on nintendo consoles. yes china town wars sold 1.2M but thats on a console that sold 150+ and everybody had it, the game had a 93 metacritic, so it isnt the games fault. other than that game GTA has never been on a nintendo console. then look at the CoD sales on the WiiU, a very low 190K. thats CoD and thats a franchise that HAD a fanbase on nintendo consoles before which sold between 1.4-1.8 million. then on the WiiU it performed 190K. If CoD sold that bad why wouldnt GTA? specially when it doesnt have a fanbase on the console.

add to that is that Nintendo is a brand that is family friendly, whether nintendo likes it or not it is. a huge chunk of its sales comes from parents buying it for their kids, that audince simply isnt interested in games like GTA. and probably the most important factor is that porting a game with the scale of GTA wont be easy and cheap. this game is HUGE. the maps is extremely huge. the content is unbelievably high and rockstar have their standards. porting everything to the WiiU wont be easy, wont be cheap and wont be fast. it will take tons of resources and time to do it and all for what? a few hundered thousand? their fanbase is already on the PS360, why bother?  ohh and it doesnt help that the WiiU sales are beyond horrible at this point (i just remembered to add this right before pressing post)

so to sum it up

1- rockstar never had a presence on nintendo consoles

2- all their fans already have atleast one of the two consoles, except maybe the few PC fans

3- Even though CoD had its fan base and fans on the Wii the WiiU version of CoD only sold 190K

4- A lot of WiiU owners are kids who are interested in games like mario and mario kart, games that are generally targeted towards kids. kids who arent interested in games like GTA

5- lengthy and costly porting of the game that simply wont be worth it, specially considering how big GTA5 is

6- extremely bad WiiU sales.

so yes, mainly due to those reasons i think porting GTA5 to WiiU would be an extremely stupid idea that simply wont have any benifit towards rockstar what so ever

I wasn't talking about userbase size, I doubt you would have got a much better reaction from Nintendo fans on the Wii's 100 mill userbase. It's not up to third parties to build WiiU's userbase, remotely.

None of those games did ok and your reasoning is so poor "EA kicked Nintendo fans in the guy" dude the majority don't even know what EA is. It's all excuses as always.

It absolutely is up to them to grow their franchises on all mediums possible if they want to increase budgets to make a profit.

Do you think the playsation would still be around if it wasn't for 3rd party support? The fact is 3rd parties hellped the userbase grown on plastation as it did on xbox this gen.

To call Nintendo fans stupid for not knowing what EA is is ignorant at best as the core woudl be adults that have disposable income and own multiple consoles.

1- irrelevant

2- lie. but even if true, then why release for ps4/xone if "all the fan base already owns ps360"

3- those 190k are about a 7% attach rate and it was 10% close to release day. it's a respectable amount considering the base, no matter what you say.

4- THE VAST MAJORITY of wii u owners are people who can enjoy games that range from gta to mario kart because, you know, liking one type of game doesn't rule out the others. and if you think kids aren't included in the audience for gta, you should check  the brats that swarm the online multiplayer for ps360 fps titles.

5- are you a developer know? cause I recall ubisoft saying it costs about a million to port to wii u, maybe a little more in the case of gta but it would still profit with less than 200k. it would probably sell 1kk+ and establish the franchise.

6- Irrelevant.

So all in all, you just hate nintendo and come up with whatever excuse for an argument you can think of to bash it. GTA5 on wii u will make money for rockstar and give a good adition to wii u owners game library, win win for everyone (except you, of course).

You're spot on, point out where I said differently?

I didn't say Nintendo fans were stupid for not knowing who EA were, I said outside of the forums (and we're not as large a group as you think compared to the hundreds of millions who have bought gaming consoles) nobody is likely to know anything about EA or their antics.

Evidently if they don't see opportunity on a platform they're not going to bother, given take two seem to know what they're doing lately with their franchises I think they know better.
