Would've been pretty good if it had bass and drums

Atlus wins this one easily.

Now if we're talking third parties, Koei wins this one very easily with one song:

The way the OP was worded, it seemed like 3rd parties were already included.  The only reason it doesn't seem like that is because the poll options only include Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft.
"most other companies like Sony/Microsoft and smaller game developers seem to go a similar way: going to a movie-like experience and therefore all their music sound the same."

Oh, okay. Well, that shit's just nuts.

Nintendo is definitely not the only one that makes amazing OST's. Uematsu is one of my favorite composers, his themes are always so intricate and interesting. This makes Square Enix have some of the absolute best OST's I've ever heard.

The one posted in this thread, Sunleth Waterscape from FFXIII, is extremely well done. (Edit: Also, Hamauzu is the one who composed much of FFXIII's music, or all of it. I don't really know...)

Like Osed said, it's not a Nintendo thing, it's a Japanese thing.

Final Fantasy, Persona (+Catherine), Tales of and Metal Gear Solid easily have my favourite soundtracks this gen. Shoji Meguro and Masashi Hamauzu in particular.

Very nice.  My favorite from the thread so far.

Jesper Kyd, awesome piece.

No Ethrian odyssey IV tracks here? Shame.

Now as you are listening to this soundtrack, just close your eyes and imagine youself wandering through a magical forest filled with sparkly mushrooms and red buttom baboons.
