Forums - Nintendo - The "Wii U Haz No Games" Label Gone In A Month?

AaronSOLDIER said:
The PS3 continued to get that label well into 2009, it needs a lot more than that list.

this, which is incredible how insane they turned it all around. Now they probably have too much games. Hopefully WIi U will get close to the same turnaround.

First twelve months is irrelevant, because people are shortsighted. The here and now will be compared and that means a full year of games for Wii U vs. the launch lineup of the other consoles. Multiplats are going to get disregarded on any platform. (...)

Killer Instinct is getting very good feedback actually, Ryse is the one disappointing. If you're not talking about the first 12 months then it makes even less sense, after that PS4 and One will be picking up steam and when multiplats come thick and fast they aren't ignored like you're suggestion.

X1 Launch: Killer Instinct, Zoo Tycoon, Ryse, Forza 5, Dead RIsing 3, Project Spark, Lococycle
12 months leading: Sunset Overdrive, Halo, Quantum Break, Black Tusk's Stealth game, Titanfall, Plants vs Zombies GW, Kinect Sports Rivals, Fantasia, Minecraft and all the indie stuff (Crimson Dragon, D4, Below)

Will a couple slip? Probably, as it stand though that's look very solid. Titanfall, KS and PVZ GW are spring as well.

The answer to the bolded is what I left in my previous quote. People will ask what they can play now, not months or even years in the future. It's not going to be that people will rush out to buy Wii Us, what will happen is that a consensus along the lines of the following will be reached:

"The only eighth gen console out right now that is worth buying is the Wii U, because the others just don't have enough exclusive games to justify their price tags. But there is the problem that third parties won't support the Wii U in the long run, so a second console would be needed to get access to the majority of games."

The result will be apathy towards eighth gen consoles and people will wait until more games arrive and the hardware prices come down. It's not hard to wait when the PS3 and 360 will continue to get most games. The Wii U will go from "no games" to "only has Nintendo games", the PS4 and X1 will take over the "no games" label.

Disagree. X1's line up will be compareable to WiiU's 6 months in when Titanfall and PVZ GW hit along with the launch line up (which is much stronger than WiiU's was)

You think sales will flounder? To what level? I can't evvisage a scenario where they get near WiiU levels.

Isnt Titanfall also coming to 360?

woah...you mean I don't need to upgrade my 360 to the X1 to play the game? Well still on the fence about spluring $600 on the X1 when I still have a 16 (Enslaved, TR, BulletStorm etc) game backlog for my 360, a 12 game backlog for my Wii(SkywardSword, RedSteel2, Lost in Shadow, DKC:R etc) and a 5 game backlog for my Wii U (NFSMW, ZombieU, DarkSiders 2, Trine2, and NinjaGaiden) !!! The only thing I could game on recently are the streetpass games on my 3DS (I know sad but true).

In about a month's time, the Wii U's library will be (I'm counting multi-plats that aren't overly late or feature gimped):

New Super Mario Bros. U + New Super Luigi U, Nintendo Land, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Zombi U, Game & Wario, LEGO City Undercover, Scribblenauts U, Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed, Rayman Legends, Monster Hunter 3G, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Assassin's Creed 3, plus some decent Virtual Console stuff like Earthbound, Punch-Out!, and Megaman X (though still not enough, hoping Final Fantasy VI hits soon in the West).

At least 4 of those titles are multiplatform. Rayman Legends, Call of Duty Black Ops 2, Splinter Cell Blacklist and Assassin's Creed.

The other consoles will be getting the sports title that Nintendo is missing out on. Forza/Drive Club are two exclusives the One and PS4 will be getting.

One is getting a direct Zombi U defeater in both Dying Light and Dead Rising 3. This is a pretty lame list of games 8 months in.

Yet none of them are enough to justify a 350 dollar purchase.

as far as I know, wii u costs 299 and the future competition will have even less games and cost 100 and 200 more.

that isn't a lot of games

For a system that's 9 months old it's ok. Mind you, for Nintendo fanboys who also use that "it has no games, we can't judge the system yet!" excuse as well, this cuts both ways now.

it wasn't an excuse, it was a solid argument. you should start trying to have some of those before saying your doom and gloom statements.

Everyone knows Nintendo has games, Nintendo launched their platform with terrible timing. The actual games are coming in the second and third year. Then again, Sony had that issue as well this gen where the titles started to build up in the two years later.

you meant first and second year, right?

Yeah, in contrast to Knack, Driveclub and some uprezzed multiplats for a 400$ purchase !

Third party support in 2014. 350 dollars by itself is a lot when a more powerful system is at 400 dollars (analyzing the price on a spec perspective)

on a spec perspective the ps4 is 100 dolars more expensive without showing much of a difference.

Not a chance. It took about 3-4 years for the PS3 to suddenly stop having no gamez.

By this time next year the Wii U should have NSMBU, Nintendo Land, Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Sonic Lost World, DKC Tropical Freeze, SM3D World, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Yoshi Yarn, Smash Bros. 4, and much much more. Anyone who says the Wii U "haz no games" at this point needs to get some serious help!

I don't see it that way. Wihle all of those games are good, only the two from Platinum Games deviate from what you'd normally see on a Nintendo platform, so there's no much improvement for those who weren't Nintendo fans already.

batman, AC4, watch dogs, ghosts... you were saying?
