How on earth is my post not a direct response to your sarcasm-laden statement?

Not at all sure what you are attempting to do with this post.l

I'm not sure what you are attempting with this whole thing.

My first post wasn't necessarily sarcasm, however I still agreed that the first 9 Months were bad. Still, though, Nintendo can't do what I said in the first post. The part that I "quoted" is ridiculous as that's how many people feel, even though it couldn't be done.

Your response to my post seemed as though you were saying the first 9 months were bad, I agreed. I'm not sure what this post is for.

1. You make a sarcastic comment attempting to ridicule the expectations of the straw-man by saying the expectations are unreasonable.

2. I state that you are throwing the baby out with the bath water since those expectations were not even partially met. Which IS TO BE EXPECTED.

3. You reply by saying that I am complaining (!?) to the wrong person - you agree that the first 9 months were horrible. Quoting a thread I'm supposed to know about.

4. I express my confusion.

Sarcasm insinuates a predisposition of the mind. You can't pretend that there was no motivation in your 1st comment. And it was sarcasm.

Oh yes, my first post was literal sarcasm. I just wasn't sure which way you were meaning.

However, the way you responded to me at first just didn't make sense. I understand what you are saying now.

That's great! Glad someone does.

Here's how easily Nintendo can fix their shit:

-Mario Galaxy HD Collection

- Metroid Prime HD Collection (this is the point I buy their console)

- 1 (just friggin ONE!) new IP.

- Take an old IP with adultish themes and make a beautiful HD game - Kid Icarus, Eternal Darkness or anything really.

With these 4, and Smash Bros, Mario Kart and a new Zelda on the way, the catalogue will look very healthy.

IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH, but if you release NOTHING, then you just deserve to fail.

It's just like they haven't planned ahead at all.

If you think that the GameCube was a marvellous time to be a Nintendo fan, then you've clearly created an alternative reality for yourself. It's also clearly indicated that you are unwilling to change your view of the world, because you are putting Super Meat Boy and New Super Mario Bros. U on the same level. There is simply no balance there. Everything of the good ol' days will be played up while everything of the present will be played down. That's why you perceive a huge difference. Come on, there was no equality in terms of other third party support, because the PS2 received an avalanche of exclusives.

I conceded that the first nine months were better for the GameCube, but pointed out that the Wii U will have at least tied the GC by the time of the second christmas (a timeframe that favors the GC).

"In my mind Nintendo has fallen from a company that's willing to stand its ground and compete directly with the opposition whilst doing the creative things that sets it apart, (...)"

The reality is that Nintendo failed to set themselves apart with the GC, because many of their first party games received a lukewarm reception.

As for your suggestions how Nintendo can fix their problems, they are pretty bad. You are just going by your personal desires, but it doesn't work that way. Remember, you think the GC was awesome, but it didn't sell.

I do live in an alternate reality when it comes to the GC. You're right.

I guess they'll never, ever be the company that will make spend all my money again. Such a shame.

It is actually a huge difference:

Luigi's Mansion was an entirely new idea. 3D and beautiful - remember the smoke and the facial expressions?. Not very long, but definitely fun. Wonderful for Nintendo fans. I wouldn't say stellar, but more stellar certainly than

NSMBU. Nothing new here (be honest!). A 2D game on Nintendo's first HD console. Same as games on the DS and Wii really. Is it really that much better than Super Meat Boy which I bought off Steam for $5? The 2D platformers they've been doing since the Wii have been nice, but certainly not the backbone of a console's software library. Come on.

Pikmin. A brand new IP. Inventive and fresh. Came out of nowhere. At the very least comparable to

Pikmin 3. Very good game - FINALLY - on the Wii U. Doesn't take advantage of the gamepad at all though. Can we call that a draw?

Nintendo Land ... Clearly the target demographic has shifted so far. This isn't AAA. This isn't a killer App. It's an ok-ish gamepack that's fun in multiplayer. But not even close to being as fun in multiplayer as

SSBM. What a HUGE step up from the N64 release! World, sit up and take notice! Incredible game! Go check those reviews (you probably know them by heart anyway)! Killer App! Which leaves,

Wave Race uncontested.

To me that's a big difference. Not to mention exclusive 3rd party games (Capcom and Sega), and equality in terms of other 3rd party support. There's no comparison really.

In my mind Nintendo has fallen from a company that's willing to stand its ground and compete directly with the opposition whilst doing the creative things that sets it apart, to... releasing one (or max two) titles a year that make me feel guilty for not buying their console.

this is ironic, maybe he thought it was a good time because he...i dont know, liked the system and games. Crazy right? Maybe you need to change your view and understand that people did like that system and no it doesnt make them any less of fans, not everything revolves around beating the competition most people dont ever care about that even among forum goers

Yet none of them are enough to justify a 350 dollar purchase.

Yeah, in contrast to Knack, Driveclub and some uprezzed multiplats for a 400$ purchase !

Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed 4, CoD, Battlefied 4, and all the sport games warrant a $400 purchase. Three of those are big time sellers, and Watch Dogs will probably be another one. The only thing the Wii U has is New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, and soon The Wonderful 101. Only one of those games are big, but that's only one game. A large mass of people won't purchase a Wii U for those games. The only reason why you think it doesn't warrant a purchase is because you probably don't like those games, but a lot of other people do. People will pick up a Wii U once 3D world comes out, but as of now, no one needs a Wii U.

The thing is all those games listed will be available on PS360 which have 150m+ userbase, will people be willing to spend $400+ to get the prettier versions of those games? Some will but I feel the majority will be content to stick to there current console.

My point was that who would want to buy a Wii U when it only has one big seller. While the X1 and PS4 will have multiple games that people want. I agree though, these consoles will have a similar drought like the Wii U (although not as bad) because of them having almost identical games, and GTA5.

Mario 3d world and donkey kong are two big sellers already. then you have a bunch of exclusive good sellers and the big multis for the holidays.

Donkey Kong comes out in 4 months, 3D World in 5. And multiplats? Who buys multiplats on a Nintendo console? Nintendo can have no third party support and still succeed, Sony/Microsoft can't. If Nintendo had all types of third party support, and still had no good exclusives, I would still say they have no games.

I think that tag will stay until at least mid next year, but they should do better this holiday season if they have a price drop all of a sudden, though you can already find basic ones for 200 bucks apparently.
