Sony makes more IP's than they milk in a given generation. Give credit where its due. I play less Nintendo than I should but this gen I feel I would be saddened because Nintendo would lose their direct competition and probably tone it down a little. Thats the thing about competition.

I was very clear that if they left the hardware business, i wouldn't care.  Of course we still want their games!  Originally, all game systems were only sold to make sure that there was something for their games to be played on.  Nowadays, that is no longer the case.  We don't need one particular console to get that.

Both Microsoft AND Nintendo would lose thier direct competitor. Without Sony I think we would have two different audiences of gaming.

All sony fans would have to come over to X1, if they want the same amount of graphics ( yes you could just get PC but whats stopping you know?). I really hope that doesn't happen. However back on point. I guess I would have to just fight with myself. I love nintendo, I think mostly for nostalgia. I love the new Dk Country on 3DS. Also I like that the Wii U can be played as others watch TV. This works for both my lady and I.

Did you ever sit to think that Xbox gamers could easily switch to the PC if the Xbox ceased to exist? Sony and Nintendo cannot be replaced because they make too many exclusives that have actually stuck with people.



Halo, Gears, Alan Wake and in my mind there the same thing. Only sony fans use this so they can seperate the exclusives to make themselfs feel better.

The Causals will buy an Xbox One with Kinect because it will do the most for them.  It's a fun party/exercise/dance/gaming console, plus they can talk to it and have it do stuff for them.  It should be the easiest and most convenience device of it's kind out there.

Like a Harmony Remote that you don't have to program and can talk to. 

The casuals won't buy the most expensive console out there, if so, the PS3 would have destroyed the 360 straight away, And how did you ever consider a blu ray player a gimmick, that's just nonsense

And stop overestimating the kinect please, because most casuals will buy a 360 with a kinect way before an xbox one "it is the cheapest option after all"

Ha ha ha, seriously, the Blu-ray was a total unnecessary gimmick when it came out, because there already was a HD format that the manufactures preferred.  It wasn't needed at all.  Caused a format battle, and physical media has lost because of it.

Guess you didn't realize, at least here in the states, the Xbox 360 + Kinect has been more expensive than the PS3 for much of the time.

But whatever, when someone says things like 'destroyed the 360' it's usually a sign of where they are coming from.



 

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

In all seriousness  unless you are on video game forums people who buy PS will have MS as their second choice, unless they want a secondary console like NIntendo.  The so called "console wars" only really exist online. So most people don't really care if they swich. Also muiltplatform games and their sales prove this just saying.
