so, you would prefer that they would report sold to consumers, something nobody even knows and which would be only a guess then instead of releasing true numbers? you know that the overall numbers for wii u would look worse then right? it would look better this quarter but overall it always looks better to look at sold to retailers and not sold to end-consumers (well, as long as it isn't sold out everywhere, then the number is the same)

Nintendo (NOA at least) owns a complany which includes point-of-sales tracking among its services. I'm not sure about how many retailers use this service though, nor whether NOJ have anything to do with it.

FEH.

I think Wii U can't be saved anymore... that GamePad will be considered the worst decision in the game history.

I know you're part of the NeoGAF family now Ethomaz, but there's no reason to bring their trademarked reactionary hyperbole into this discussion.

Anyways, really poor numbers from Wii U. And for all intents and purposes, Nintendo (nor anyone else) shouldn't be surprised with this result. They neglected to push or create any positive momentum for the console for the past 7 months. Completely unacceptable.

But as an owner of the console, I am hopeful that they can now pull their heads out of the sand and support this console like we all know they can. A unique, quality software release in Pikmin 3 is start of a positive change for the console, and from here on out we'll be seeing more and more of that. We'll see what the future holds for the Wii U. I'm certainly rooting for it.

I said the GamePad was a bad ideia almost a year before became a GAFer

I can't see the last part part of your comments happening... the deadline is this holidays period... they are little chances to Nintendo changes this situation.

Well understand that my comments were more focused on the console actually delivering unique compelling content (which it hasn't done for 7 months), and not really about "turning things around" (Only time will tell how much momentum they can actually create). To be honest I'm pretty terrible at predicting numbers, so I kinda steer clear from that XD. All I can hope for is that Nintendo and its partners actually give us a reason to be excited for the console. And after a hiatus, they're finally beginning to deliver titles.

This holiday season will be an extremely interesting one, I'm with you on that. They only have a set time before the Wii U goes from a primary gaming choice for the market to a more niche gaming console like the Vita is (not that being a niche console makes it a bad device, but market wise it will never be as strong as the competition).

EDIT: Speaking of GAF, Wii U's terrible sales have killed it.

Did you even read the last part of his comments, didn't even mention sales he was talking about support from Nintendo. You seem utterly fixated!

Don't even understand the first part of that. Nintendo will support it regardless of sales just like Gamecube, they have a good slate of games coming.

Btw the 3DS fall is explainable. I think it's due to the 3DS XL release last year. They probably had to ship in July for the August release. I say this because 3DS sales for the quarter are most definitely up (at least in the West). I'm not too worried about it anyways, next 3 quarters should show where the 3DS really is.

Also Wii U still has a chance this holiday season. It really depends how the games sell but I think it will at least have a better first year than the PSV, will probably be close to the 360/PS3's first year. It does have a decent holiday lineup and that's when you get half your sales (Nov+Dec)

Gamecube sales >>>> Wii U
