Without XL. Shipments for 3DS and 3DS XL are shown seperate (XL below 3DS Hardware)

No they aren't.  The 3DS shipped 1.4 million "of which" the XL was 990k.

Oh... well that sucks >.<

The low shipments to North America are alarming for 3DS even with the Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem bundles.

Nintendo will still kick, scratch, claw, and fight their way to 90 million 3DS' sold some how IMO, but man they are really going to have to sweat for it this time.

It's not doing terrible in NA/Europe but it's not exactly super strong over here either. It's doing great in Japan though.

For fuck sakes - i have  completely lost faith in the media

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-07-31-nintendo-records-quarterly-profit-despite-abysmal-wii-u-sales

http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/31/nintendo-reports-quarterly-revenue-down/

http://www.exophase.com/61147/nintendo-shifts-a-mere-160k-wii-u-units-in-april-june/

Can someone confirm that these dickheads are wrong?

None of the articles say sold to consumers. The statement "Nintendo sold 160k this quarter" is correct.

They overshipped last time around so that pretty much explains it.

I recall that Nintendo went on to halt the GC production for a time in 2003 because they overshipped that one too.

That was actually one of the reasons why the Wii was so supply constrained its first year or so, having to freeze GameCube production in 2003 burned them badly and really scared them something fierce. They didn't dare over produce the Wii for a long time.

A lot of people are interpreting it as consoles sold to consumers not shipped. They are not making the distinction. For most people sold means to the consumer

these are the worst sales ive seen, imo nintendo should leave home consoles and keep thier handhelds instead.

wtf.....a company don't give up caus e a system is failing.

10,000 Wii U systems outside of North America and Japan?

Holy fuck.

looks like i owe you on apology.you were just 60K units off.

That's below terrible... I never saw anything close with any other console in the history.... 160k quarter in it first year? The work doomed never fits so well.

ASDA stooped to take order from Nintedo, other retails too because 10k is ridiculous for Europe and rest of the world.

I think Wii U can't be saved anymore... that GamePad will be considered the worst decision in the game history.

so, you would prefer that they would report sold to consumers, something nobody even knows and which would be only a guess then instead of releasing true numbers? you know that the overall numbers for wii u would look worse then right? it would look better this quarter but overall it always looks better to look at sold to retailers and not sold to end-consumers (well, as long as it isn't sold out everywhere, then the number is the same)
