I would not even consider FF15 to be a final fantasy game. FF games too me were all about the gameplay and the last game to have traditional FF gameplay was FFX. The gameplay of FF15 is more like KH and not FF, its fine if you like KH gameplay but not FF gameplay.

The gameplay system in FF13 and its sequels was a mess, they broke tradional FF gameplay and gave us trash. Now they will give you KH gameplay and no doubt screw it up aswell. Final Fantasy is dead and Square Enix can no longer make decent games.

1. Graphics - Polygon count has nothing to do with quality.
1. (a) Art Design - Already one of the most boring and uninspired looking Final Fantasy games.

2. Story - Wants to bring back Retro level of story quality? He will try to match old games, he can't surpass them. Kingdom Hearts and TWEWY are nothing compared to the deep and interesting plots in FF IV-IX, and he only helped make character models for those games.

3. Gameplay - Personally I think it looks stupid. FF never had ridiculous jumping, and matrix style moves. FFVII: Advent Children was bad enough, are you honestly praising a game for being over the top ridiculous? Retro FF, good FF, wasn't over the top ridiculous.

4. Music - Retro is better

5. Sequels - AWWW this just guarentees that it's going to be bad. So far X and XIII are the only Final Fantasy's with sequels and they are regarded as among the worst in the main series.

Seriously, FF will never be as good as it used to be. Ever since Hironobu Sakaguchi left the company, Final Fantasy has lost all hope. Heck Lost Odyssey was much better then any FF game released in the last 10 years.

I don't think their troubles are because Hironobu left, Final Fantasy 12 was really good and it was released this decade! Also did you ever played ASH for the DS? That is a Hironobu Sakaguchi game and it's really really bad xD. I haven't played Losy Odyssey but it doesn't look that good to be honest :/. I think he lost his touch too since he left Square

I think itll be better then 13, but its by how much which will be interesting

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

FFXII was alright, not particularly good, it's not like the old Retro FF's which literally dethroned Nintendo when they moved to Sony. Also look to the left of your screen and see my "Currently Playing." I'm actually enjoying ASH very much, it feels a lot like Dragon Quest.

LOL, thing is a lot of people have different tastes. FFXV looks a lot more like a Modern JRPG, then a Classic JRPG. I'm a fan of Classic JRPG's, you know the FF's which define Final Fantasy. So no modern Final Fantasy will be good as what it used to be because they aren't making a game for the same audience.

As for Lost Odyssey, IMO it's the best console JRPG released in a long long time. It feels like an HD version of a SNES era JRPG, no other 6th or 7th gen game feels like this, and this is why it's so awesome. I think JRPG's were best in the 90's, and Lost Odyssey feels like a 90's JRPG. Don't get me wrong, Tales of ___, Valkyria Chronicles, and XenoBlade are all also excellent, but they have modern combat mechanics, they are all Action JRPG's. This is why Lost Odyssey is a real gem.

Am I the only one who prefers "A Fleeting Dream" over "To Zanarkand"?

How can FF be dead when they still sell so much?

It is true though that FFXV's gameplay is completely different from the rest, hence the games cannot be compared despite them all having Final Fantasy in their title.

I think Final Fantasy XII was really good but yeah it was a departure from the classic Final Fantasy games. *Looks to the left* OH! Sorry xD, so you are playing it! A friend of mine had a lot of hours invested in that game but never finished it, he told me the game was very bad :/. Personally I haven't tried it yet but I'v seen videos and it doesn't look nice, but I could be wrong!.

I am a fan of classic JRPG's! I love the atlus Megami Tensei franchise and most oldschool RPG's! But I don't dislike new RPG's because of the change in style. I know no other Final Fantasy will get to the level of the classic ones like FF VII or FF IV but I think we should give FF XV a try. It looks like a serious departure from the series and it won't have the same feeling but it could turn out to be a good game!

Then I should definitely try Lost Odyssey! Most RPG's I played on home consoles where modern RPG's. Sadly I don't have a Xbox 360, but this could give me another reason to get one! XD.

ASH lacks polish, Mistwalker tried to take too much on in this game (it's the largest DS game, twice as large as the next biggest). There are full rendered cutscenes with great voice acting, and the character animations are great, but the game is very slow. If you ever played a NES Final Fantasy or Draqon Quest you'll see what I mean.

Overall, it's good, but not great IMO. I'm about 5 hours in.

As for the rest, everyone has their own tastes. I for instance can't stand Persona, not sure about SMT, I want to give it a try, but I really....really hated Persona. I know I hate Dungeon Crawlers though, so this is probably why SMT is not an appealing franchise to me.

If you're a real fan of JRPG's, I would look into getting a 360 on a Black Friday sale or something. I've seen the 4GB Arcade model sell for $130 multiple times, and I've seen used systems sell for <$100. Take into consideration that Lost Odyssey is only a $20 game, and that the 360 also has a few other good JRPG's and it's a worthwhile investment. Tales of Vesperia is great, and since you like FFXII you might really like Infinite Undiscovery. Magna Carta 2 is also pretty decent, but nothing special. Also Porject Sylpheed, for $5 at EB Games, that's a pretty damn awesome deal. I'm not a fan of Sylpheed games, but this honestly feels like a short JRPG Starfox. It only got bad scores for being so short, but for $5 it's a great game.

---

Also I will give FFXV a chance, but it's low on my TDL. I still haven't beaten XIII or its sequels, and I haven't actually finished FFIII-IX LOL (I played all of them a good amount though). I'm more interested in X for the Wii U right now, and Tales of Xillia 1 & 2 for the PS3.

i don't doubt it that it will be a very good ff. the question is how many copies will it sell. on that scale i think everything under 5m in the first 2 months will be a dissapointment. but are there really so many people wanting to buy that game?

On two consoles in their first year ? I doubt so.

But it could achieve 7.5m lifetime.

Seriously? Ever since the PS1 days Final Fantasy battles have been over the top. The summons (KoTR, Eden, Ark, Anima etc.), the limit breaks (Omnislash, Lionheart etc.) and just the general battles. FFXIII had ridiculously over the top battles. The only difference is that you now have a real-time influence on how over-the-top you want to go.
