Forums - Nintendo - Major UK retailer suspends WiiU stock

I would be worried if Tesco abandoned Wii U as really Asda ain't much here.

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

What if this campaign against Nintendo is fueled by EA's money? Like, EA pays stores to stop selling Nintendo games... Ok, maybe that's a bit of a stretch, but it's weird anyway.

People who are saying this is insignificant are stupid tbh. Asda (with Tesco and Sainsbury's) have decent selections of games in their stores. I know from experience that Asda sell a lot of games and consoles so this is significant. I expect to see at least another supermarket chain to follow suit.

After reading the posts in this thread, it is clear to me that the title of this thread makes this seem like a much bigger deal than it is. Not saying it isn't a big deal, but the title makes it seem like the biggest retail distributor of video gaming is not going to sell Wii U's anymore.

The title says "Major UK retailer", which Asda is, in general, and in the gaming sector.

True and most live outside of the UK commenting on this so they don't know how much impact this will have on the console. The Wii U has been heavily discounted for a while now on Asda (trying to get rid of stock, no doubt).

For those commenting on this who and do not know.. supermarkets are big when it comes to selling games here in the UK (in retail) and Asda saying on no more Wii U's is a big deal. Assuming this is true, of course.

that is a very bad sign... if true.

Asda actually does reasonably well in video game sales these days, decent presense.

are you saying that out of just general knowledge just living in the country or did you read something about their presense in the UK video game sales? just asking because if you did read anything that you could give us a source, just interested, nothing more

I knew you were the one to respond, but clearly as you see others saying, Wii U isn't any more "doomed" than the Vita going by this news.

Exactly, I would even say the supermarkets would have the biggest marketshare of the games market. Game or HMV surely can't seeing as they've both gone bust in the last 12 months

In my opinion, the Vita is in a much much worst position than the Wii U.
