Forums - Microsoft Discussion - DF: In Theory: Can Xbox One multi-platform games compete with PlayStation 4?

People also forget that politics > specs.

You think MS is gonna sit idly by while multiplats are consistently better? MS refuses to have games on their platform that the competition will be better day 1......L.A Noire anybody?

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Some of us are genuinely interested to see what the hardware is capable of and how the developers can push each system.

Yeah, and unfortunatly that's the 10% of people who participates in those kind of comparisson.

The other 90% are fanboys feeling proud because their new toy has better graphics than the toy of their neighbour.

Well...  Xbox One will recieve just a few games then.

Microsoft's console is laking power, because they wanted a good multi task console, and tv tv, sports sports, tv tv, and a mandatory Kinect for everyone.

If they get worst multiplatforms is because they deserve it.

Anyways... even multiplatforms are similar, exclusives difference will be even bigger than in the actual gen.

tl;dr: yes they will be able to compete, simply because enough devs will choose the XBOne as their lead dev platform. It will be that some multi-plats look prettier on one or the other, but in general, it will be even.

This is the biggest cock of crap I've ever read, Devs will lead on whatever platform is doing better to max out that platform and make sure their games are the best they can be on the stronger platform so fellow games developed on said platform don't outshine them and lead to them outselling.

I don't think anybody can say how much the extra power will translate into games just now as there may be hidden hick ups down the road as devs get more familier with the platforms that we can't forsee right now, but at the moment it's looking likely that the ps4 is going to have the superior running and looking multiplats :)

I said it already and will keep repeating it - just comparing the specs one by one and add up is totally wrong to judge the real-game performance.

Exactly.

Underlined: Again...politics. MS has a lot of pull, and they ain't gonna let that happen, nor will they let multiplats have anything more then a slight framerate advantage. Developers are more scared of losing out on revenue from lost Xbox sales, because as we know from L.A. Noire, MS can and will play hardball.

But given the graphics level this gen will bring, I doubt the differences will be all too noticable. This ain't like PS2 vs Xbox, it is far more difficult to spot poly counts nowadays.
