I dont think now is the perfect time to have a Wii U. Next year most likely when the major games come. Regardless, enjoy it for what it is right now.

congratulations! Should be good timing for your purchase, particularly if there are games out already (sounds like there are) that you want to play- August should be a very good month for the Wii u as far as the number of good games released via 1st and 3rd party - unlike many of us who bought at or close to launch- you should be able to keep your Wii U busy from day 1- by the end of August I think most of us will be able to keep our Wii u consoles busy as well
