The real money will be made in lower end smartphone sales in the coming years.

If you haven't got a diverse range of smartphones then you're a doomed player in the space.

I think even apple are realising this, rumours of "cheaper" iphones are coming in a lot of late

Off topic...

My brother bought a Lumia 520 yesterday... really nice smartphone... I was trying to teach him to use... I know it is the cheaper Lumia but here in Brazil they sell it for R$600 (~US$300) and my brother didn't have money to buy a Lumia 710 or 920 lol

That what will bring Nokia to big numbers again.

They just announced a cheap phone with 4.7 inch screen. I think it is called Lumia 625. That will be a good choice for people with lower budget.

Windows Phone can work without any problem with low specs.

Very good numbers, they are probably the main reason why South Korea continues to grow

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Actually growth for South Korean exports is slowing down and since exports account for nearly 50% of their economy, the  governement has had to increase spending and try and increase consumption. So far their policy is working.

Ridiculous numbers by the giant. They have so much market power now what with them producing parts and panels for almost every single phone/tablet monitor and TV out there.

So south koreans are kicking asses lately.

Korean female singers > japanese female singers
Korean companies > japanese companies
Korean gamers tastes > japanese gamers tastes

I'm in love with South Korea, it is what Japan was in 1980-1990 when it was ruling the world.

I think it's remarkable that they're able to charge a premium price for their phones. The S4 costs as much as an iPhone and people respect that and it's in high demand.

But about the TV division, I thought I read a couple of years ago that Samsung was planning to leave the TV business because of increased competition and low margins, but it seems as they're still as strong as ever. Did they scrap that plan?

Wow I'm surpised they planned to scrap their TV business since they have the largest market share.

I re-read up on that thing and I discovered that Samsung 2 years ago announced that they were "reviewing" their TV business plan, which some analysts interpreted as they were planning to leave the TV business entirely. But it was more about Samsung changing focus from the LCD tech due to decreased margins, instead investing in OLEDs. But their OLED investment didn't bring results as quickly as they had hoped, and OLEDs are now predicted to break-through not until 2017 or so, and meanwhile Sony has introduced the 4K TV in the LCD segment.

So clearly Samsung thinks it has a future in TV business for at least a few more years but analysts think the competition from Chinese TV makers will push them out eventually.
