Forums - Nintendo - 5 Wii games in the Global top 50 compared to 2 Wii U games.

I think the Wii has a larger install base. Also, Nintendomination.

A lot more people have Wiis.

Having two systems out isn't the reason why those WIi games are in the top 50, they already have the install bases.

I do agree they should however kill the Wii already.

What do you think about this?

It could just be because you can play these wii games on both the wii and the Wii U. So maybe sales are higher because of that. Although I kind of doubt the Just Dance 4 game is an example , since I believe the Wii U has a version of that as well.

In all honesty I bought just dance on the wii for my wife because it was ten dollars cheaper than the wii u version.Theres no big deference with both titles so why pay more! So that does happen but also large install base of 100m compared to 3m is more to blame and if you think this is bad wait tell ps4/x1 are on the market for 8 months! I think ps3/360 will be supported alot longer than any gen before it unlike the wii witch has been dead for a while now with little to no support.

This only confirms the trend of the generation: it takes about a year for any system to start to make headway against it's predecessor. It's been true of all of the hardware launches thusfar.

To give you an idea, the 3DS has been outrageously successful over the past year and a half and it holds 9. Meanwhile the PS3 and 360 hold FIFTEEN and FOURTEEN respectively. The top 50 part of the chart naturally favors mid-to-late life console because people on the one end of the spectrum people who have just spent money don't immediately have that much disposable income left. On the other side, you've got buying games for old systems that look antiquated. Hardware that's too old doesn't sell games, but if it's too new it doesn't work, either.

The greatest sales always come on the back end of the middle of a console's life.

Wii has more games and a larger install base. Wii U has barely seen any releases, so it's not a shocker.

I think the fact that the names are similar play a factor as does the lack of unique software that the Wii U can call its own.
