ESRB Rates Lost Planet Colonies

But what is it? An announcement may come shortly.
By Andrew Hayward, 02/05/2008

Lost Planet Colonies is a title we've heard a couple times over the last several months. In May of last year, Capcom registered the trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and then in November, the title was rated by the German USK ratings board. Today, the story gets a bit deeper with the title's appearance on the ESRB website (via Siliconera), where it has been rated "Teen" for the Xbox 360 and PC.

But one key question remains: What is Lost Planet Colonies?

The ESRB rating reveals it to feature the same content descriptors (Animated Blood, Mild Language, and Violence) as the original Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, which shipped last year for Xbox 360 and PC and is set to hit PlayStation 3 in March. Could it be an expansion to the original game or some kind of expanded re-release? It seems too soon to have a rating for an unannounced sequel or spinoff, but then again, it's all speculation at this point.

We checked with Capcom for comment, and received a very curious response. The body of the reply contained only the image seen at right: a television with the words "Stay Tuned" in the picture. Is an official announcement forthcoming? We can't say for sure, but we're certainly intrigued.

I always assumed it was Lost Planet 2. Although the Colonies part makes it sound RTS inclined.

@ legend , you always seem to post interesting stuff.
You maybe should be a mod.

Anyways at the more bizarre end of things, what if Lost Planet colonies was an expansion, like the shivering isles or like fear files is for their respective games.

what would be really cool is if this expansion is included on the PS3 new version of Lost Planet for the full price of $60.00. A separate release would exist for the 360 as well.

̶3̶R̶D̶   2ND! Place has never been so sweet.

No chance of that happening, I made a few questionable threads (mainly about Super Mario Galaxy) and I've been in a few arguments with some members. But I appreciate the compliment, thanks :)

A LP RTS game would be neat...

But IMO, I'd say its some sort of quasi-expansion re-release.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
