Wow, this is great news! Been itching to program again.

I think it is not possible...
What I see is after you sign for the developer into the MS site you will download the tools to install in your PC and the Xbone to start to developer for it... you will can utilize the hardware limited to what the Xbone allow.
If you need to extract more from the console you will need to buy a Xbone DevKit that have at least 50% more hardware specs than the consumer Xbone... so you will can use the full potential of the hardware without any overhead created by the devtools.
So I could be completely wrong but could this open the x1 to modding for games like skyrim?

CBOAT was also wrong about game sharing being demo only, Mirrors Edge an Xbox One exclusive and Prince of Persia being shown at Microsoft's E3 conference.

less relavant?!? don't you mean more relevant? almost everything that was the xbox one has been erased from the market as MS tries to complete with playstation.

Didn't Nintendo allow self publishing on consoles first? |
No.
On topic, i wonder if they're gonna drop the price to 399 next. Changing the name is also possible now, a lot of their fans didn't like it.
Indie devs say Xbox One self-publishing is 'a move in the right direction' http://www.polygon.com/2013/7/24/4553596/indie-devs-say-xbox-one-self-publishing-is-a-move-in-the-right

My bad.
This is really awesome! Imagine emulators being coded for Xbone! Virtual-Console, Nintendo? Ripping off money with old games, which are also tied to the console? There you go...
Really, I can't imagine anything better. I hope the dev-tools are free, too.
