3DS will be ahead of the N64 by the end of Next week WW?

What do you all think?

Not surprising, if so. 3DS has been doing well and will continue the trend. It's almost going to pass PS3 (that has actually happened, already) Wii in Japan, too, right?

Absolutely atrocious first week sellthrough for both M&L and Danball... wtf? It's rare to see Famitsu stock estimates in the green range. I hope publishers realize that just because something is on 3DS, it won't always fly off shelves.

Youkai Watch showing some decent legs though, it seems to be benefiting from word of mouth among children according to Tsutaya.

3DS games have legs, and I think they have been doing quite well. Just Japan sales alone are pretty good actually.

You can't expect every 3DS game to have legs. The truth is that 3rd party 3DS games are starting to show a Vita-esque behavior. Look at the Toriko and the Danball Senki games : they're still on shelves for most part and they aren't the type of games to show legs, it's a disaster for their publisher which obviously expected much more given the install base. Even Yôkai Watch which is major 3rd party release is looking 200Kish, which major PSVita games already do. With Vita and 3DS 3rd party games selling in similar quantities, publishers might be tempted to switch to PSVita given that Vita games can generally be priced higher.

To be fair Toriko got a release late last year. Youkai Watch is wild card. Inazuma opened to lower sales and managed to sell 300k+ in Japan.

Even though major PSV IP's tend to sell 200kish, what is game like Youkai to do on PSV.

A nice surprise with Yokai Watch holding well. I hope it catches on, it looks like happiness.

Pikmin tumbles but that has to be expected given the size of the installed base. Like Vita games, there are only a certain number of potential customers out there.

As for the Vita, I'm kind of optimistic, as we're getting news for it at a steady clip, like Project 575 and Super Heroine Chronicle. Also, I want to play Zoro against Kenshin in J-Stars Victory Vs.

So Wii U with a better hold after Pikmin 3 than the Vita had after Hatsune Miku. That settles the nonsense from last week.

But It´s over 90.000 for Nintendo !

I consider the Pikmin franchise dead right now.
Pikmin 3 will end up with less than 200K in the Japanese region, well below the 475K units of P2 and very disappointing for a game that had several years in development. Hardly, Nintendo will invest in Pikmin 4 in the near future - unseless P3 has excellent sales in Western markets, I believe that Nintendo may invest in the franchise, which I doubt, given the small sales of P1 and P2 in the West.

Bullshit ! Pikmin 1 opened lower and 1&2 creeped both to 560.000 units in Japan (by our own numbers) !

legs, legs and legs

Toukiden is chugging right along. Should pass 300k with digital sales without much problem.

and it seems that a lot games aren't getting that big opening week. I don't know if they're just overshipping everything or these are just bombas.

The WiiU drop was about what I expected. The question is how much more will it drop in the coming weeks and will the Wonderful 101 next month be enough to bring it back up again?

In any case, it's nice to see WiiU as the top home console for two weeks in a row now, even if only barely this week.

Nintendo's self fulfilled prophecy if that's the case.

I think Nintendo should have put another game to increase sales of the Wii U, Pikmin was never a super-hit smah sales and the low sales in Japan prove this theory. I believe that Nintendo is disappointing with sales of P3 and of course with so little consoles sold (22K + 14K in 2 weeks)

I am using Famitsu numbers. Nintendogs (DS-2005), Brain Training, Animal Crossing, Mario 2d, Wii Fit are evergreen / long legs sales by selling games to a wider audience than the traditional hardcore public . Pikmin is a franchise for the typical Nintendo hardcore fan. Sales of Pikmin can not be compared with the other five franchises. Pikmin is not a evergreen monster sales game.
