Intel seems to make better CPU's than AMD, and now they are including rather good GPU's on the same chip with their latest Haswell.  It is still not as good as a dedicated GPU though.  Say you took a mid to high range CPU/GPU Combo from Intel, like a I5 or I7, how much do you think it would effect next gen processing, gameplay and graphics?

I think they would be a bit more expensive overall... I think the GPU's from AMD are more expensive than NVidia, but the processors are cheaper... also I just think that AMD has better performance value overall for graphics compared to competitors. Even still with the recent increase in NVidia cards performance and speed I'd say it could be a significant bit better but a lot more expensive... maybe if they release a new Nintendo console in the future and they go that route we can compare/shun psx14

That is a very interesting point.

In 3 years the WiiU will be 4, perhaps, depending on how well it is, or isn't doing might team up with Nvidia for their next gen.  I would think Nvidia would be very aggressive to get at least one next gen console.

The only difference they would make would be on the price of the systems, AMD processors have been clocked at nearly the same speeds as intel and other then the minor difference in clock speeds the only real difference is the the price and it is vastly different.

When it comes to gaming having an Intel chip inside any console will just jack the price up with no added performance. It would not be a very good idea to do that.

Not only would it be more expensive for the chip itself, but since Intel's integrated graphics are notoriously crap, Microsoft and Sony would have to resort to a second chip. Just like before. That not only drives up costs but also power draw, heat, and size. By choosing AMD, the companies have sacrificed processing power (a good idea since gaming consoles don't need much to begin with) for an efficient and powerful graphics processor. Going with a custom made AMD APU was the best choice for both companies and it's a shame Nintendo did not choose to go the same route.

AMD didn't buy ATI for nothing. Intel may make better pure CPUs, but their APUs and graphics chips are trash.

That would be unlikely as nVidia was approached by bother Microsoft and Sony and demanded ridiculous prices. Since nVidia deals with mobile Tegra chips now, they view gaming consoles as small game and choose instead to promote mobile gaming with devices like the nVidia Shield. Not to mention Nintendo has been using ATI chips with GameCube, Wii, and now Wii U.
