What? This is not theory, this is what people did and do - look at the xda-forums. And as I read, there is an apk-launcher, but you have to do a "make" before or sth. I don't know further details because Ouya is not available in Germany by now.

Yeah, what was the point of that beginning bit?  I didn't look into it and if the APK loader was locked you'd have to run through fire to unlock it.  People did it, that's all you needed to mention.

apk-loader locked? what? you can transfer apk's to ouya, you can install them, you can use most of them. there are even lists of them available who contain working sideloaded apk's. you even can get playstore to work somehow but it's still not officially supported. if you want to root it, you can, too.

generally it seems ouya is more for techie-people like me than the average joe.

I know you can... now.  The whole idea of Ouya and having developers create new executables so they run on the device seems ass backwards to me.  So I fugred as a form of control they locked the apk loader.  I didn't look into it and I was asking around here.
