You overshot a bit.
PS3 got all of the early map access to BATTLEFIELD 3.
With Halo alone makes Xbox the better choice.

One word: HALO!
Halo, and arguably a better FPS controller, again arguably considering a lot of people enjoy COD on the PS3 as well. To give Sony *CREDIT* they did try to win that audience with Killzone and Resistance, where as Microsoft only had Perfect Dark Zero as the other big exclusive FPS at launch.
But when it comes down to it? It really does fall on Halo. Halo 3, Halo 3:ODST, Halo 4 and of course Halo:CE Anniversary.
Edit: I forget how important Left 4 Dead was on consoles at least. Lots of my friends were pissed off Left 4 Dead never hit the PS3.
It's just that simple.
360 not only does it have halo which after 2 gens sony still has nothing that can go against it but most of the top FPS multi plats performer and look better on the 360 the main one being COD. L4D is also on 360 a good FPS that isnt mentioned in here
it also has the TPS category on lock with gears of war

Uncharted Series is more highly regarded than Gears.
Just sayin.
i'm sorry, but lets be honest here l4d is a horrible shooter with terrible graphics and clunky controls...
halo is a fun game, but not really my cup of tea. i did really like gears though.
haze was actually a lot of fun, MAG, resistance series, killzone is amazing, DUST 514 is highly under rated and is truly a hardcore FPS that not many games can match in regards to focus on team work and tactics.
I'm not sure what other exclusive (on console/pc) that the 360 has over the ps3... I have played all the games I mentioned, (last halo i played though was 3 i think though) Personally not being a big fan of Halo I'd have to say it an easy choice to choose these ps3 exclusives over halo (quantity). Even still I think my favorite fps games have been Crysis 2 for MP and Resistance series for campaign/co-op.

the 360 for the controller..at lease. but you could connect it to a pc.
