I liked the video, smart people make me happy. I like how they think outside the box by focusing on the needs rather than on just competing (Megapixels versus light and color). The only part that made me resist was the android part, but I might be able to look beyond Google's creepy monopolistic potential.

@bold. I know. What OS would I have wanted? Well, I didn't say I wouldn't want Google but seeing the Android logo made me uptight, even if it's realistically the only way to go.

That has to be one of the highest goal for a crowdfunded project I've ever seen. The phone itself really looks worthy the donation.

I love the idea, but strongly doubt they will reach $32m target. 

Hmm, a more processing heavy mobile phone is just about the last thing I want. I'm just not charmed by seeing videos, browsing the web, listening to music and, least of all, gaming on a tiny screen with touch controls, poor sound and 99% of the offered software and apps being half-assed or cheap knock-off's.

I know you can connect your phone to other devices, bypassing the whole small screen and poor sound, but then why not use a console or PC while you're at home or someplace where they have a big screen and sound system? That would also add the benefit of miles better processing power and better flow and compatability.
I can see how it can be handy to check the bus times or when the movie starts while you're sitting at the diner but I hardly want to pay hundreds of dollars for that, especially when I can check it before I leave home.

I know, no one cares, I'm an old grouch and all that and I don't get it. Maybe there's something wrong with me for being able to survive fifteen minute bus trips without music, videos or facebook and perhaps I'm mistaken in focusing on being social when I'm out with friends instead of staring at a display while we're eating and having a good time.

It is a brilliant idea, however it seems a bit too "jack of all trades". It would need Windows for the full Steam library and software support and iOS for the best app store. In the end it always comes down to software (although I don't see any mention of the graphical capabilities, so it might not run much anyway?)

Sounds good. I hope they make the money. Ubuntu have some powerful backers and the guy behind the OS is not short of money so I am guessing that the 32m figure is not necessarily set in stone.

Android is linux based and open source so it wont be any different in that respect to Ubuntu.

It would be great if open source software can further kick the asses of MS and Apple.

Hope major manufacturers get in on Ubuntu. I'll drop Android straight away for my next phone if it's any thing like the full OS.

Pray that they don't reach their goal, for the universe is not yet ready for a phone of this caliber. Its very existence would punch a hole in the universe through pure awesomeness, dragging all other "smart" phones into the abyss.

shows that 800 seems too much for many. i mean, i don't know from where they ship it but if it doesn't come from eu i would also have to pay for duty and taxes. 800+those costs wouldn't be so great haha
