The themes MGS presents are deeper than the majority of videogames (and many movies) out there.
Great voice acting and characterization are also important, and a vital part to the series.

In my opinion, people hold LoZ's story a bit too high. It's decent (Albeit slightly cliche), but you don't buy LoZ for the story, you buy it for the gameplay.
